HokeyReligions Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 A former employer found out I was available and want me back to work for them! The employer is near my home--but the project is about 23 miles from the house --I'm not complaining though! I didn't even have to interview even though I'll be working for one of their clients in the clients office. Its still project work - ne benefits, but its INCOME! Yay! It could last a few weeks -- or maybe even a few months!!! I'm wanted and even better -- I'M RESPECTED! They are also paying more than what they normally pay for projects (& more than I earned there before) because they want ME! AND I can still take Friday off to be with mom during her heart procedure!! PS: I got another nastygram from the control freak today because I sent an email to a friend of mine who made the mistake of checking her Yahoo email at work. I sent it to her Yahoo account and not to her at the company and I was told that I was not allowed to have any contact with my friend at the company or anyone at the company. I was invited out for drinks with some of the folks from the old job and 'she' mentioned that it was a good idea and wants to tag along, thinking its just going to be people from work and wanting to restore morale. I told my friends I didn't want them to get into trouble but they insisted that I come along because I was invited and she wasn't. That ought to be fun! She is trying to control people's private lives too. She'll have a nice little law suit on her hands pretty soon because I'm getting sick of it. I don't work there anymore, I STILL have not received my paycheck and if its not in the mail box tomorrow her boss - the President of the company - will receive a little love note with my attorney's name on the letterhead. I'll be toasting her tight azz this weekend!
curiousnycgirl Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Woohoo for you Hokey - that was fast! as far as the control freak goes - you are right, she has absolutely no right to tell you you can't contact people at her offices. in fact she can't even prevent you from sending email to their corporate accounts - how did this woman get into management? Did you get your last paycheck? That's all that matters!
katty Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I don't know the background history of your past career but it sounds as if it was bad but now is looking up. I was in a similar situation and after 12 years of broken promises and shady deals and broken partnership I quit and started my own business and my previous employer tried to smear my name by spreading lies about me and I took the higher road and now he is going out of business and I am still in business. Best of luck to you.
quankanne Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 that's great news about the contract position -- if they want you back enough to snap you up when you were available, I'm sure they will do what they can to have you for keeps! Still, it's good being in that kind of position, where you are appreciate and respected for the work you do. as for psycho-beech from hell: what she is doing is harassment, plain and simple. Document, document, document. And let the Big Boss know that this woman is stepping over the line in trying to dictate to you, who no longer works there. not sure if you've got a lawyer lined up, but we got into the PrePaid Legal program, which assesses a $26 fee from our bank account eachh month, and we can call for advice. Might be something worth looking into, especially as they've got a bank of legal experts to call upon and they do the legwork for you.
Author HokeyReligions Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 We had a prepaid legal program years ago and that's something I might want to get back into. I've been going to my in-laws attorney and he's been very helpful. He's made a mint off my in-laws over the years! "she" emailed me again today and I have my email send an automated response that I am no longer accepting emails from her and that if she wishes to contact me that she can do so via my attorney; and that all emails from her will be maintained for legal purposes--I don't remember the exact wording but it came from the attorney. Grr--- I got a call last night that the job won't start until Wednesday, which is actually great because I had to spend four hours at the DPS office to get my driver's license renewed! I had to do it before the 27th and I've been procrastinating thinking I could do it early on Wednesday morning, so today was a good thing. But I just got off the phone with my agency again that the manager at the client company may be out again tomorrow so I may not start until Thursday, but she doesn't know yet and she doesn't want to send me over there until she hears back from her client. I got through an agency (company A). Company B is the company that the agency contracts with and I worked for them before and they want me back. Company C is Company B's client and it is their office where I will be working and it's their Project Manager who has been out, but I have to go back to Company B first to get an ID and computer logon, etc. because I'll be on Company B's payroll. It's confusing - its not like regulary temporary work through an agency where I'm an employee of the agency, I'm an employee of Company B (albeit on a temporary basis) But, we have to wait for Company C's Project Manager to be ready to have me start work. So, I will be ready in the morning to go, but I'm going to wait for a phone call from the agency first to verify if the PM will be there. If not, we are going to shoot for starting on Monday--which I would actually prefer so that I can take care of more of the things I need to do at home and then spend some time in the pool if it doesn't rain. I haven't had a lot of exercise lately because it's rained every day! I really need to swim and then relax and have some fun--maybe even scrape up enough money to go to a movie before mom comes home. "stress" doesn't begin to describe what I'm going through right now! Plus my MIL got her feathers rumpled and claimed that I'm deliberately keeping her from talking to hubby -- because I answered the phone twiice when hubby was in the bathroom and she didn't get to talk to him (she is the one who is extremely high-maintenance) and she accused me of interferring so I had to call and tell her I was not. (well, in a way I was -- hubby didn't want to talk to her either so I ran interference for him one time--the other time he really was in the bathroom)
