I am looking for a counselor or psychiatrist to talk to/help me with some addiction, childhood traumas, stress & life in general. When looking through my providers there are Psychiatry & clinical Psychology. Which type of professional would I choose?

I'd talk to your general practice doctor and explain what you're looking for regarding therapy and then ask them if they could recommend anyone.

Thanks for answering Pocky!

I went to him a few months ago and he just put me on antit-depressants and didn't really TALK to me. I told him some of my concerns, about drinking too much and he just said "what are you gonna do about that?". Honestly, I just don't think he would be a lot of help. He made me feel like he was too busy. This is a guy that I was semi-friends with before selecting him as my general practioner.

I need help soon. Not doin' too good lately and starting to get more depressed and taking everything out on my poor hubby. I just want to find someone to help me. The only place I know to go to is the list of providors and hope that whomever I choose will be able to.
