Gingerlocks Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I need some advice. Yesterday me and my girlfriend went into town as it was new years eve. I went to a party with my friends, and she went to a party with her friends... From around 22 to 04 I heard nothing from her. I wrote her a message saying Happy New Year, but didn't get a reply or anything. I came back home around 4 in the morning, and went straight to bed. While I was sleeping she had texted me several times asking where I was, and she sent a few texts just to tell me that she'd come back home. A few hours later (while I was sleeping) she texted me a few times asking if I was okay and stuff... Now. I don't know why, but I feel so insecure at the moment? I've never felt like this before with her.. I shouldn't be worried about anything should I? I always tell her when she goes out with her girlfriends to just let her hair down, and have a good time, as I really do trust her, and I know she wouldn't do anything stupid... But why am I feeling like this? Sorry for my bad english if anything is wrong!
umirano Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 So other than a radio silence of 6 hrs you have nothing to substantiate your unease? I'd not start problems just based on that. Is this normal, or do you text each other all the time otherwise? If yes you can let her know you'd appreciate her not disappearing on you. I mean answering a quick text isn't that hard right? On the other hand, cheating on NYE? Seems odd, most people just get wasted. It would surprise me if she decided to cheat on a night where it's generally just about partying. Why didn't you spend NYE together?

umirano Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 We text eachother all the time normally. This gets old really fast. Your relationship should rest on something other than a constant exchange of texts. 4
devilish innocent Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 My advice is to meet her and talk to her preferably in person, but if not, then where you can hear her voice on the phone. Don't start off by accusing her of anything since you don't have a reason to. Just apologize for falling asleep and ask for details of how her evening went. If she's as trustworthy as you think she is, it's likely your sense of unease will go away once you have more details about what happened that evening. Of course, if she's especially evasive, then you should investigate things further, but I don't see anything in your post that indicates she has anything to hide.
Gaeta Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 We text eachother all the time normally. Reason we didn't spend new years together was just because we were invited to 2 different parties.. How long you've been dating? Then you go to both parties 'together' no? You tell her all the time to let her hair down and enjoy herself so that is what she did. If you don't mean it than don't go repeating that to her. If you like touching base once in a while than tell her that.
Gaeta Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 A couple should be able to go out separately and not expect a call or text from the other one. You are both adult I assume. You go out and have fun and wait till the next day to touch base. During the years of no texting couples did not need to be in touch every 2nd hour of the day and night and relationships were going just fine. People would go out and only talk the next day and it was fine, people would go to work and work a whole day without talking and it was fine. 1

OnlyHonesty Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I am really overthinking this right? It's not your mind that this came from, it's a gut feeling. I advise you to pay attention to it because it intuition based. All you need to do is allow yourself to see, remain observant and listen. Intuition is not to be responded to by any knee jerk reactions but with patience.

Author Gingerlocks Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Could it be im reacting like this because my last girlfriend cheated on me?
Gaeta Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Could it be im reacting like this because my last girlfriend cheated on me? How long have you been dating? If she has never given you reason to worry then you are being insecure. The world is not gonna end because your girlfriend didn't text you for 6 hours in the middle of the night at that. It's not because her nose isn't glued to her phone on NYE night that she does not love you.
kendahke Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Could it be im reacting like this because my last girlfriend cheated on me? Probably. How long was it between when you broke up with your ex to when you met and started dating your gf?
