HorribleSLS Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Do you send ex lovers Happy New Year texts?
Gr8fuln2020 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Do you send ex lovers Happy New Year texts? Ex-wife, yes. Ex-lovers....NO. Why would you?
DarrenB Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Nope. If you're considering doing so, don't.
Author HorribleSLS Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Ex-wife, yes. Ex-lovers....NO. Why would you? To be civil?
Author HorribleSLS Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 No. Why would you do that? Courtesy I guess? Like you don't care about your 2nd cousin or aunt you don't see or talk a lot to but you say HNY to them, right? Same thing. No?
basil67 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Courtesy I guess? Like you don't care about your 2nd cousin or aunt you don't see or talk a lot to but you say HNY to them, right? Same thing. No? I didn't send HNY to the second cousin or aunt I don't see or talk with either. Actually, I haven't sent HNY to anyone. There's far too much HNY spam on my FB feed and messenger already. 1
amaysngrace Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I might. I have before but it mostly depends on how drunk I am.

The death of a year? That is pretty dark and goth. About a celebration of a new year like a newborn? That reminds me - I guess HNY messages are weird because people will assume I was drunk and send it anyway, so it won't mean a thing?

I'm not goth. I just sing Carrie Underwood then I'm good.
basil67 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 And there will be a lot more celebrity deaths in the coming years. It's not about having a bad-luck year, it's about ongoing abuse of drugs and alcohol.
DarrenB Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I guess HNY messages are weird because people will assume I was drunk and send it anyway, so it won't mean a thing? No, not really. If you're sending a HNY greeting message to a previous lover (like you stated) and they serve no benefit in your present life, and you don't theirs, what's the bloody point? What they will assume from that and what the 'greeting message' could be perceived as, is an act of reconciliation. 1
dumbass2 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 It's just another poor excuse for a needy ex to send a text to the person they just can't get over. Just like happy birthday, merry Christmas etc.. 1

Just like happy birthday, merry Christmas etc.. I'm friends with some of my exes. I think of them the same way I think of any friend really. 1
dumbass2 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Oh, I think it's fine to text that to a friend, but a not an ex that you are no longer in contact with on a regular basis and still have feelings for. If you're friends with an ex with no feelings, then that's fine. I don't even text all my friends "Happy New" on New Years eve or day, only my close ones if I'm not already hanging with them.
