Iamlostin Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Nowadays, there are so many forms of finding a potential mate, you can meet at a bar, club, even through mutual friends. But, when tangled with time or curiosity such as I, sometimes for fun I like to see what the social media apps do for me such as tinder, or bumble. I know of a good amount of people who have met on those sites and are long time dating, engaged, or married. I also know many people who had the worst experience with it. Therefore my question, through social media apps are there people who have actually found a positive, and happy relationship, OR is it a bunch of BS? I personally feel it all depends on the people joining it. GO!

I personally feel it all depends on the people joining it. GO! It is bunch of BS. Social media made dating disposable, where people don't invest in an existing relationship anymore and it is easy for them to jump into a new relationship rather than fix the issue in the existing one. Social media with all the liking and passive agressive flirting is practically a tool for whoring around. Even the "committed" ones start cheating that way. Don't believe me? Check out the cheating forum.
Grey40 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Isn't social media the reason for many of the affairs? People having affairs is nothing new. Social media just made it easier and it also made it easier to find out about it. It's a two way street. It's easier to find women to cheat with, but it's a lot easier to get caught. OLD is rough if you know for a fact you're not the greatest looking. If you think you are below average in the looks category, I wouldn't suggest it. I also wouldn't suggest it if you do not have really good pictures that show you at your best. There's a site called photofeeler where you can test to see how attractive your photos are before you use them for online dating. All of the photos I use on my profile have been rated in the top 10% of attractive and in the top 50% for "Smart" and "Trustworthy". I've been using Tinder, Bumble, POF and OKCupid and even Clover all simultaneously for over a year. I'm a good looking guy, and I've had very little success with it. Honestly it's kind of hard to figure out. Now, getting matches and getting girls to respond to my message isn't my problem, and that's usually the biggest problem for most men. I get plenty of responses, matches and have even had girls message me first on both POF and OKCupid. I've successfully met up with only 2 women on using the apps. Both off of POF, and both were successful dates, but I wasn't that into their personalities or their looks once meeting them in person. However, that success rate is pretty awful. I'm on 4-5 different apps at the same time, matching and talking to probably 10-15 girls a week and have only managed to meet up with 2. That's probably less than 1% and I'm good looking.
strawberryshortstack Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Isn't social media the reason for many of the affairs? You're confusing "reason" and "facilitation" If someone wants to have an affair, they will have it with or without social media. Social media just makes it easier.

Ive used all those apps as well and have had much the same experience. I feel like it's a mixed bag. I had sex with 3 people off dating apps this year. That's 3 people I wouldn't have encountered otherwise. But they were just hookups. And considering I exchanged messages with hundreds and hundreds of people, that's a pretty low success rate.
