Birthday card to the ex girlfriend?

I am looking for some opinions and insight into whether sending an ex girlfriend a Birthday card is a good thing. I dated this girl for roughly two years and we broke up in Feb. of this year. The relationship was very good for much of the two years only breaking down toward the last few months. The decsion was all hers, I was all for working it out and trying to rekindle the flame. I guess everything ends badly or else it wouldn't end. The relationship ended as best as could be expected. We had mutualy decided to keep in contact every few days because the friendship was not worth throwing away. I was not content with the amount of attention and contact I was receiving from my ex and acted like a complete jerk on multiple occasions which was totally out of the norm for me in the relationship. This did nothing but increase the rift between the two of us. The situation finally culminated at the beach where too much alcohol and too much resentment contributed to me lashing out at her telling her "I can do so much better than" "You can't get any better than me" and "the relationship was a waste" all of which I did not mean but I did say. She obviously says she wants nothing to do with me every again and that no amount of tears will help. This occured in April of this year and her birthday is in a few weeks. I was the last in love, although I am not madly in love with her still, I have soft spot in my heart for her. I really went all out on special occasions in the past. I am just curious what the message I will be giving if I do or do not send a card, or an ancknowledgement. I have only communcated with her a few times since. Any comments or opinions are appreciated Much Thanks
