TheWhittler Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I know lots of men who prefer to pee sitting to prevent splash back and/ or excessive cleaning. Thought it was weird at first but now its just normal and also quite nice that they are clean and tidy like that... 1
CryForNoOne Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 To answer your question, no it's not normal. I don't know any men who pee sitting down. You don't know any metrosexuals then. I pee sitting down at home but never in public restrooms. It's cleaner, quieter, and I never get grief for forgetting to leave the seat down...
elaine567 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 His mom raised him like a girl... I guess sitting down to pee may not be his only issue if that is true. 3
dreamingoftigers Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 My husband used to be a stander. Then after his back injury he became a sitter and saw the virtue in that. His back has been doing better lately so it's half & half. One thing though: he's NEVER left piss on the floor either way. We used to clean houses and some places would get disgusting after a week or two even. One guy's bathroom looked like he spilled orange pop all over the place. I have no idea how women tolerate that, or "chocolate highways." If I was dating a guy and he pissed on my floor, there wouldn't be a next date. Yuck!
OnlyHonesty Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Guys do make a mess aiming for the bowl from a distance, so I'd say it's pretty considerate. And btw yes women can pee standing up lol. Isn't exactly natural but there's no physiology preventing it. (Anyone who's done water sports knows this. ) With practice, you can control the streams and bend them to your will.
OnlyHonesty Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 He says it prevents splash, mess and smell (wtf?) His mom raised him like a girl so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it, or if we've been too conditioned to think men should only pee standing up. His reasons make sense (I don't understand the smell aspect). I've just never encountered a man who peed sitting down before... Did people skim read this and just skip that comment or something? What is that supposed to mean? 10
Miss Peach Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I've seen it with some men but not very often. Agreed with the others than it's not the issue I would make/break a relationship over.
NuevoYorko Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Did people skim read this and just skip that comment or something? What is that supposed to mean? No kidding! I've been reading eagerly awaiting some more details on this.
Haydn Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I stand outside the door with a 45 degree angle. (Nothing easy) I`m often late for things. Who cares? Not an issue OP. 3
Mrin Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Non issue OP. I'm maybe 50/50 depending on where I am, if I have a phone in my hand and when the cleaning lady is due stop by.
Kelley Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 My ex also used to do this, we didn't break up because of it! It's a non issue not a big deal at all!
clemens Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I'm secure enough in my masculinity to sit! Using private toilets, that is. Public ones are a different matter. Simply more sanitary. Besides, I like to read. 2
carhill Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 IME as a guy being around guys for nearly 60 years, nope, not customary for a guy to sit on a toilet to pee. I did notice, when I did it for awhile, that my bladder didn't get as completely emptied as when standing up. Why did I sit down? Well, I lived alone until I got married at 40 and, during the 15 or so years of living alone, there was a period after I passed a kidney stone while taking a piss that I blacked out and my head took out the window and impacted the toilet tank lid on the way down and I was out for awhile. Gravity sucks when one is standing and goes unconscious so that memory impelled me to sit down for awhile so as not to fall so far and because of not having any assistance around if something went bad. I found the ADA toilets seem to contain splash better so have used those in remodels since they came out. I don't see any significant issues to standing to urinate from the maintenance or odor aspects. I guess if a guy isn't good at aiming that could be a problem.
Sweetfish Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Lol. .. I thought this was a relationship forum. This has nothing to do with pee. Its just a smoke screen to an underlining issue or issues. I believe the OP rather see more manly traits. I think the OP might be starting to have certain feelings and can't justify those feelings hence decided to post on the forum to see if other women deem this as normal. . 1
winny Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Non issue. Who cares... why are you even monitoring him when he is taking a leak... leave the dude alone to do stuff the way he likes... people cant even pee in peace these days without being judged 4
LargoLagg Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Normal? To be normal, the behavior would have to be shared by at least 68% of the population (one standard deviation away from the mean). Statistically, I'm thinking normal for a girl, but not for a man.
CommittedToThis Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 My only experience with dudes who sit to pee involves my older sister...decades ago she left her husband for some guy, they moved in together really quickly. A week later, sister had moved out. She told me not only did this guy sit down to pee, but that after showering he'd wrap a big old towel around his head the way women do (or Sikhs). And the guy was almost bald. I stand unless I'm dropping a stool, then I'll do the old nip-and-tuck and pee sitting. Otherwise I have excellent directional control with the rare annoyance of the "forked" stream. The floor around my commode remains pee-free to my satisfaction.
bachdude Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I'm kind of private about my bathroom activities. It's kind of my man cave No. 2 (no pun intended haha). I prefer to keep the bathroom sounds to a minimum so sitting is my position of choice for sure!
No_Go Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Why are you stalking him peeing ? And why it is a deal for you? Unless you suspect something like he's feminine or something... I don't see how it matters. I pee standing when I'm in the shower for example. I don't really care for my peeing position really I pee almost standing in public restrooms as well if they look gross and I don't want to sit.
5x5 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 At public urinals, outdoors or while giving my wife a golden shower, I do it standing up. At home if I'm reading something, or it's late and I can't be bothered turning a light on, I do it sitting down.
joseb Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I'm a bit amazed someone like this is an "issue". Seriously. How is this a problem exactly? To answer your question, lots of guys do from time to time. For reasons mentioned. Like not wanting pee on the floor, and aparently it's better for prostate health (you learn something every day). And aparently 49% of Japanese men do it. Sitting is becoming the new standing 7
eightytwenty Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 You know I've never really wanted to know what goes behind that closed bathroom door, and I don't want to know either...
MidwestUSA Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 There's always that benefit of having the seat warmed for you in the winter. 2
NuevoYorko Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I stand outside the door with a 45 degree angle. (Nothing easy) That's very beta of you. 2
umirano Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 It strikes me as weird that in North America standing seems to be the norm. Here in Europe it certainly isn't. Definitely not in private homes. At work most men use the urinals, where available. Then again I find north american toilets to be badly designed in that they're too low/shallow in comparison to the euro norm. I can identify with that other poster's husband who complains about getting his schlong wet. I guess for comfort I'd be a stander if I lived in the US/Canada but I'd probably have to improve my aim.
