I can only imagine how hard it is to become a medical specialist and he threw his life and career because of marital problems? If your external source of love goes away, so does your meaning for living...so suicide. You can assess how emotionally healthy you are from determining if your self worth is internal (i.e. you always feel worthy of love regardless of what is happening around you), or external (i.e. you determine your worthiness based on others). External = needing therapy. Internal = emotionally healthy.

I'd say that this result is an indicator of why they were estranged . . . 1

Raena Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I can't imagine it has anything to with whether his relationship was more important than his life's work... he either lost his mind when his marriage was falling apart or he's a psychopath and planned it. It's hard to say. The emotions that your body goes through at a break up can be overwhelming. It's a shock to the entire system. Some people handle it ok, others lose their mind.

We do not know his history. Surgeons, doctors are human and can be overcome by stress just like anyone else and everyone has a breaking point . . .

I've read that it's not uncommon for incredibly successful people to have mental issues, especially personality disorders like narcissism. In any case, when it comes to commiting crimes of passion I don't think professions matter. 1

Think of Russell Williams who was the head of the ENTIRE Canadian Military. They are total psychopaths and one day it just catches up with them.

I think every country has it's share....watch some Forensic Files on Netflix, over 200 episodes of Americans killing. I don't think it is culturally related....although the mass gun murders are definitely more of an American thing. FYI the winter isn't long and depressing to Canadians lol
