Johnisaman Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Hi everyone. I met a woman who turned out to be exactly the same as me in almost every way. We can talk and end up saying the exact same thing. So far it's like a dream is coming true. But I have heard that dating someone the exact same as you can end bad. Any thoughts? We shared our first kiss last night as well and she told me how she feels and I feel the same way but I want to hear what you guys think.

Most people feel the same way you do when they first meet someone they really like. WAY TOO PREMATURE to tell if it's genuine or not. I wouldn't want to date someone who is 'exactly' like myself. Of course, that person simply does not exist. My immediate advice is to take it slow, deliberate. 2
Newcitygirl Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 My ex was exactly like me in every way. We broke up. It left me devastated. I had wedding pictures in my head. Sometimes similarity isn't best idea.

We shared our first kiss last night as well and she told me how she feels and I feel the same way but I want to hear what you guys think. When I first met my bf, I felt the same way! We could talk on for hours and finish each other's sentences and it seemed like we had the same hobbies, likes/dislikes, hopes, and dreams. It felt like a dream come true. I could never believe I could connect to someone on this level. We hit it off like fireworks. Now several months down the road, as we spend more time together/live together, I discovered it was all just an illusion. If you read my current threads I posted here, you'll see what I mean. I'm starting to think my relationship has no future, and even if we somehow make it work, the challenges will be tantamount. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but just be aware that it is possible that things don't end up all rainbows and unicorns, as I've learned the hard way. 1
MarkIVSteel Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 She's just a woman. Stop tripping and building up these expectations in your head. The higher you elevate your expectations, the more devastating the disappointment will be. Just take it a day at a time and treat her like every other human. Go out with her, have fun, make her feel good and go for the lay.
DK_Casus Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Trust me, no one is exactly like you. At first, our brains "fill in the blanks" because our minds can't handle a non-entity. So, the first picture of a person is a construct that never holds entirely true in the long term.
