The range of women I'm pursuing will be around 28 to 42. I still hear that 35 or less is when conception becomes an uphill battle.

However, I'd like to balance out a suitable mate with someone who I'll actually like to be with (and this is certainly one area where I will not hesitate to disappointment my parents on, even though I know they would like grandkids).

Appreciate any thoughts and opinions about this matter.

Like so many things ease of conception comes down to the health of BOTH people involved not just the woman, as well as genetics etc. Most of the women I know who had trouble conceiving did so because their partners had low sperm counts, not because they were women over 35.

Conception does not necessarily become an uphill battle after 35. My sister conceived her child rather easily ( while using an implant contraception as well) in her 30's. Not even the marvels of modern medicine could stop those ovaries! And my grandmother conceived her last child at 52. Meanwhile I have been infertile my entire life.

I'm of the opinion that if having kids of one of those things that if it's destined for you it will happen on it's own timing and sometimes even without your [total] consent.

High risk pregnancy is over 35. It is much harder to conceive after 40 for women.

Men's sperm quality deteriorates after 40, and pretty significantly by 55, though conception is still very possible. Rates of problems increase.

Risk of autism, Down syndrome, and other difficulties increases significantly with age. And, pregnancies are high risk after the age of 35. Don't wait too long.

It truly depends I could tell you a lot of my girlfriends had beautiful babies between 33 and 37 and up, my sister was 35 when she had her first and she has two absolutely beautiful girls. Another g/f was 41 she wasn't even trying.

That means nothing though. Like others said, it has more to do with your combined heath. That's a healthy age range you are targeting. And obviously under 35 is easiest.

i think it is mostly the best to be under 35 years old but having baby at 37 is not so dangerous, it depends on your health, shape, etc. You can go to doctor regularly to make sure the baby is healthy, pregnancy at 37 years old is still possible.

Lately, I've seen quite a few mid-40's women wanting more children, even after having already having children from the online dating sites. I have to think they have picked that in error.

They may mean adoption etc
