I'm editing this to make it shorter. My main question is: what are some tips for not taking criticism personally?

I took a huge risk this year, and I'm facing some backlash. I should have seen it coming, but the criticism surprised me, and it's hard for me to shake it off.

What type of cristicism? Was it constructive or disrespectful?

You should never take anything personally.

Would you say the people who are criticising you actually know you, really accurately know YOU?

Of course they don't.

They are levelling criticism at their own prejudiced idea of you. What they say doesn't actually apply to you, what they do is in their own interest and coming from their pride.

The criticism was not constructive. And those people hardly know me. I am just forced to interact with them every so often. At first I felt hurt, but now I am just irritated.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I love the title :p
