Whatoncewas Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I have always been best friends with my girlfriend and that was enough. I had a couple of long term relationships and we were close and did everything together and that took care of the friendship for me. But now that the last one didn't work out and I am taking a short break from relationships, I'm finding the lack of friends annoying sometimes. How do you make friends when you are already 38? It feels like it is too late but I am sure there are other people in my position that want to meet some people to hang out with.
RecentChange Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Do you have any interest? Hobbies? Play sports? My husband and I (I am also 38) moved cities about two years ago, and I have been pleasantly surprised by making new friends and having new social circles. I met people through my horse back riding. I have made a few friends from chatting on my commuter train of all places. And through those friends I was looped into new friend groups. My husband has fallen into a fun group of guys who meet once a week and go to beer breweries etc - and that has spun off into other groups for fantasy football etc. So now we will have big BBQs, outings etc with his "beer friends" and we get a number of football friends in the mix, plus their misses, add my riding and neighborhood friends.... I haven't had a social circle this big since I was in college (or maybe ever)
Author Whatoncewas Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 Hi. Ok thanks! Yes I have loads of hobbies. Tons. So I already mentioned how I was always in a relationship. I think I'm a serial monogamist it's called. And hanging out with her was enough But I also got really into sailing and travel and that broke up me from group of friends growing up. I have been some amazing places but I don't know a lot of people. Everyone I meet I leave. I got an apartment here and vow to "settled down" a bit. Just a bit. So I will try living in one place for a while. My main hobbies that aren't travel related are Photography Surfing Hiking Music Any adventure sports I'm willing to try. Kayaking Gym Church(but my church doesn't have people like me)
