As I mentioned there has been no, zilch, sex talk between us and she has no reason to think she needs to shoot that down before our first meet. It's just more info than I needed. I'll find out soon more about her personality and maybe after a few drinks I'll ask if it hit. If yes, rounds for the house.

You clearly have never sat in a rural doctors practice...
Really? I was born and raise on a farm lost in the middle of nowhere with a population of 200 souls. I think it's rural enough.

You're the only one on this thread thinking it's no big deal to talk menstruation to a complete stranger so lets call it a British thing.

Actually, I don't think it's a big deal either. It could be a normal conversational item for her, and a chance for her to see how he thinks about such candor or her conversational style. It wouldn't be off putting to me at all, but I know myself well enough to know I think out loud on many occasions...

I think it's TMI as well as it conjures too realistic an image if you know what I mean. I mean I know everyone's fart stinks but I try and be discreet enough about bodily functions so it's more implied if you know what I mean - or I don't mention it at all. But some guys are into that kind of thing haha. One of my friend's exes was really into doing the deed on her period. Each to their own...

Don't worry OP, i doubt her mouth will be bleeding.

You should follow up with her about it on the date so you can strategically plan out the next one, that is if you too hit it off.

What happened on the date OP?! Let us know!

People share their hemorrhoid's all the time, and their gout, bunions... Normal conversation down the pub. Its not unusual for an old man to complain that his hemorrhoid's are playing up in the queue in the super market. Doesn't bother me one jot. Because its just life. Its not as if she is asking him to help insert a tampon.

He asked how her day was and they have been talking. I still think this is blown all out of proportion.

Me too. Only the other day, i brought up my irregular flatulence in the bookies.

`Hey, Shazza, been farting like a trooper today`

The amount of advice i received was amazing. (Mainly, options as to part with my dosh`

OP, she was honest. And having a period is totally different from declaring `you` have a worrying rash on the old `pork sword`

Seems to be a cultural thing.

As an Irish guy (though living in Australia) I wouldn't think that was out of the ordinary, and I wouldn't be put off, as long as she wasn't going into excessive details:)

I might infer that sex was off the table.

2- 42 years old and she calls her period the female monthly thing? :/

Yeah this^ is what I find so off-putting. When a middle aged woman is talking with 'girly' terms  Is she showing immaturity on other topics?

Posted
Of course, for an old man. I think there comes a certain age where old people enjoy talking about disgusting things I suppose. lol

Young people...mmm...more of a social faux pax.

Since when is a womans monthly cycle disgusting?

I repeat if its gross to you then don't date women... It is that simple. A period, monthly cycle, time of the curse what ever you want to call it is not disgusting. Its a pain in the backside. For the ages of about 13 - about 55 women have them every month unless they have their wombs removed... So deal with it.

I don't think it was wrong of her at all. She didn't say it in a lewd way all she said was that it was causing her hassle but its OK.

I think all this is way over the top for a fly away comment. This woman is being battered for admitting she is female and has normal female functions? Really?

So how much did Shazza manage to part from you in the end Hayden...

Wrong Toodaloo, this wasn't all about her proclaiming she was going to have her period any day now. No woman has ever mentioned that to me who is basically a stranger though. I thought she was telling me too much the day before we met. Did I tell her I was going to masturbate beforehand... both are normal functions, right? And, it did tell me something about her, she overshared on the date as well. Lastly, I've been married once and have had several long term relationships - those women didn't make a big deal out of it or fill me in on all the details although I would have listened.

Just let this one go to a difference of opinion please.

Well its clearly a difference in values and opinions, both between us and yourself and your date. Sorry you wasted time but I still refuse to chastise this woman for what she said.

Values? Not even worth responding to.

Opinions - it wasn't necessary to bring up with me in any way at all. I was actually curious whether she was going to use it as an out - I'm not feeling well because of the period...And you never asked how I responded, which was in a tactful and simple way. "I hope you feel better. Looking forward to tomorrow."

Well seems to me that you were not really looking forward to it after that comment and that the best bit of the evening was your solo session before hand... Nothing wrong with that.

As for values some people value communication others prefer not to know. You both clearly have different styles. Anyway better luck next time.

Oh and for what its worth I didn't for one second think that you would have responded in anything other than a gentlemanly way because that is what your posts suggest your personality is... I assumed that you had these thoughts and doubts and wanted to air them else where. I do still think that adults should be able to discuss natural bodily functions in a polite and honest way. I also think its a sad day when someone can't make a fart joke...

Anyway. Suggest you call next.
