basil67 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 For this attachment style, over time do they begin to miss their exes more after the inital relief? thanks I wouldn't imagine so. Though I've never missed an ex, so I can't really fathom those feelings.
Arieswoman Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 OP, From what I have read, when a spouse/partner is absent, a person with this particular psychology may become obsessively focused on work, or may even celebrate the separation as an opportunity to get more work done. However, when he or she returns they can be distant and distracted, almost as if the punish the other person. As they are not really aware of their feelings, dismissive/avoidants can’t talk about them in a meaningful way, and often the first clue the about-to-be-dumped have that something is wrong is the avoidant’s move to break up with them! They will move on to get their needs for attention, sex, and communication met through less demanding partners who don't need real reciprocation or intimacy. 2

Arieswoman, What about an anxious-preoccupied type? Does this type miss a former partner who they considered their soulmate?
