HokeyReligions Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Whew! Its scary money-wise but what an emotional relief. Today was my last day at that horrrrrrrid job! My contract expired 6/20 and I've been held over for a while but I couldn't stand it and finally had a good long talk w/ Ms. Uber Control Freak! We parted amicably (she is even giving me a reference!) and I can collect unemployment until something else kicks in. I am more relieved than stressed about money right now (the money stress is going to come on the 15th when I have a short check and its my last check!) That place was just horrible. My, well THE receptionist called the president the other day (called from home) because he is in London. She wanted to see if he was OK after the bombings. Ms. Freak was royally pissed about it! She laid into the receptionist like she had done something horrendous! It was an aweful scene. The receptionist's husband is a friend of the President (another problem we had in the staffing dept. because said receptionist thought that meant she was untouchable and she is right, but her behavior in other really critical aspects of her job was inappropriate) but anyway I didn't see anything inappropriate about her calling - she was concerned naturally. But Ms. Freak exploded at the receptionists audacity! The President was pleased and thanked the receptionist for calling. Anyway, I'm glad to be gone for my own mental health. I've been actively looking for another job for a while now (no bites, couple of nibbles that turned out to be nothing) and now I can concentrate fully on that. I do think I'm going to bite the bullet and get my hair cut in a professional style instead of wearing it up in a bun. It's going to be difficult to say good-by to four feet of hair though. Well, I'll consider it an instant weight loss!
westernxer Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 You're a smart gal, and you'll find something better. Congrats on sticking it out.
Neptune Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 If I ever had a gal with four feet of hair I would be on my knees begging her not to cut it. I love long hair! Oh, the fantasy!

I love long hair! Oh, the fantasy! Ah yes, fantasy--- OWE! Get off me -- your on my hair! --standing up from a public toilet to find that the hair has become tangled around the flush handle and nearly yanking it out of the skull ~or~ that you didn't lift it enough and have to wash the ends in the sink using that crappy soap in the dispenser! --spending twice the amount on shampoo and de-tangler, or using a product from the feed store manufactured for horses, and a large bottle of fabric softner --sticking so many pins and combs in the hair when putting it up that it takes a half hour to let it down therefore ruining the 'mood' --bending over to pick something up and finding that you stepped on the ends and tripping yourself --tangled in the office chair or caught between the chair and desk so that when you swivel the chair you pull it HARD --having the ponytail slip over the shoulder when washing the dog, so that the hair gets in your face and the dog jumps out of the tub while you are distracted --lets not talk about what happens when chaning diapers! --getting it tangled in the christmas tree during tree assembly and decorating --ooh, the pool filters! --listening to countless people tell you that your hair is sooo long! Well, duh! I didn't realize that--thanks for letting me know, I don't know how that happened! I'm just so used to it and I do like long hair mainly because mine is so curly in parts and straight in others that it takes forever to style it when its shorter and usually I just braid it and put it up (I'm really lazy about my hair which is why its so long) I'm also a hair-fiddler. I don't chew it or anything like that, but I fidget sometimes and used to bite my nails until I started fidgeting with my hair. It just seems wrong somehow to sit down and not have it over my shoulder and pooled in my lap!
Neptune Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Okay then, you can cut five inches off Yes, I guess it is a hassle and no man is worth that.
