basil67 Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Another Sydney poster here... My 17yo daughter has been with her boyfriend for over a year. They are in for the long haul and totally in love. When I refer to them 'dating' she doesn't correct me. I firmly believe that labels mean little because the word one uses can mean something entirely different to another. It pays to talk about your relationship with your partner and make sure you're on the same page.
Author Poppy47 Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Thanks Basil. I am a widowed older person going out with guys after a long happy marriage It's difficult to define what's what. I do not have a partner . Many issues to navigate. Poppy.
preraph Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Dating is preplanning to go out with a guy who is at least going to pay for the first few dates, and the entire reason is to get to know the person. Someone just starting to date should be reminded that a date is not a marriage proposal, because these young folks who do everything online now have a really magnified idea of what the face-to-face date signifies. For young people, a date is just to have fun and get to know someone to SEE if you like them enough to keep going out. It's not a marriage proposal. It's not an agreement that you find them attractive already. It's not an agreement to kiss or have sex. It's not a drill to find a husband or wife, until you've reached the age you think you should. 1
