GemmaUK Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Thank you all so much. I'm really starting to re evaluate whether I want to be with someone so unstable. I feel like he wasn't honest with me in the beginning about what he did for work. We met in February he said he did construction and cooking on the side. Well in February there is no construction in the city where we lie because of the winter. So around May he was talking about starting back with the Union but said he wanted to take the year off to focus on cooking. I was thinking I had someone with a somewhat stable job. He had mentioned us moving in together but I would never move in with someone so financially unstable. Not to mention he has a child under the age of 5 that he has to provide for. Not to mention someone stole his car a couple weeks ago. When the payout comes who's gonna finance someone with no proof of income. Now if only my heart can catch up with my head:o:o The bolded part above, do you mean the construction Workers Union? Forgive me, I'm from the UK so not sure how it works but if that is what you mean and there was simply no work around he wouldn't have come out of that Union would he? Construction can be sporadic so it doesn't make sense for people to continually leave and re-join a Union even if there is no current employment in the city. I live in a fairly small town and even here we have construction all year round here, they have to take breaks for weather conditions but not for much more than a day. Canada would be a different story - no doubt they ride on through snow - they're much more used to it than we are! I recall a fishy incident with a guy I had a few dates with. He happened to be (according to him) a very qualified head chef. He said events was the thing he excelled in. All the really fancy stuff. He was unemployed and looking for any kind of catering anywhere he could find. But...... That became only head chef jobs, Then - only within walking distance or a short bus ride. That then became the agencies hardly ever call him. That became he is only signed with one agency as all the rest have banned him for being argumentative. I would guess that must be pretty ban in order to ban someone. Oh and he had been completely unemployed for over 3 years. He was 40 something. He did have a pretty bad temper - loved to argue, that, his alcoholism and clinginess put me off him - and it didn't take long to find all this out at all! I think his alcoholism was his downfall - he would forget what he had told me on a call! It got to be hilarious! ! Oh, and he did cook for me on a couple of occasions - but what he made was awful! They were that 'yeah, I'm really full up actually' type of meal. @I just can't eat any more but thanks so much!' 1
Author travelbug1996 Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 In the US thy can pay their dues every month and still be a part of the union. He can take off as long as he wants as long as he pays his dues. We live in a major city with bad winters so construction slows almost to a halt. He doesn't over drink or have a temper. In fact he's really sweet most times just a little misguided in my opinion. I'm giving him some space to kind of figure things out.
