ButtonPusher Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Oh god here I am again posting my crap on here. I made the cardinal sin of letting no contact be broken after 3 weeks. I didnt call, my ex gf did. Thought I was fine talking to her, but then a day or so later it hit me and I was kicked back into the abyss. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Back to square one for me. Kinda like that game snakes and ladders.

Well, it'll be hard work again now...climbing up the ladder...but you'll feel better in a couple of days. Just be careful you don't get near "the snake" the next time around!
Author ButtonPusher Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 Yeah it does seem to describe the situation we sll find ourselves in. By the way, great name. Reminds me of an old buddhist story.
This_Too_Shall_Pass Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Thanks!! I racked my brains for something meaningful for LS - and this one happens to be one of my favorite sayings too. What's the buddhist story about? Care to share it on LS? Btw, I noticed your name was a little different, I think it actually has a meaning in a language. If you don't mind me asking - does it? Ha - I'm still smiling at the snakes and ladders analogy - reminds me, that's exactly how one used to feel when being "gobbled up" by the snake..."Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo"!!
Author ButtonPusher Posted July 10, 2005 Author Posted July 10, 2005 Lol yes the name means "suffering" in pali, and I think also in sanskrit. I thought it was a suitable description for how I felt when i registered and probably how a lot of people here feel. As for the story, this is what I remember from it....... Once upon a time a long time ago there was an emperor that loved to party. His kingdom was prosperous and he had a lot of wealth, so he partied all day and all night, and basically had a good time all the time. But then there came a time when his kingdoms wealth declined, it was struck by the plague, attacked by his enemies etc, and things were not so good anymore. The emperor cried and cried as he felt so unhappy. He was miserable. So his advisors got together and discussed what they could do. They made a ring for him, and had inscribed on it "this too shall pass". So they told the emperor to wear it and to keep those words in mind whatever was happening. Now when the emperor felt unhappy he looked at the ring and realised this too shall pass, and in time things got better in his kingdom and he was wealthy again and could party again. But he also looked at the ring when he was happy and realised that this too shall pass. So he didnt spend all his time partying but worked hard so as to prepare for the bad times. By doing this, he found that the good times seemed to last longer and when the bad times came again, he just told himself this too will pass, and this time the bad times did seem to pass faster and with less pain. The end. The message being that pain and suffering is just as much a part of life as pleasure and happiness.
This_Too_Shall_Pass Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 That was a nice bit of story-writing!! Had fun reading it. Aha - I knew the name had a meaning, it's sanskrit but also used in many other Indo-Aryan languages. The word "Dukh" or "Dukha" (with the 'a' silent) meaning sadness, hurt, pain. I was just wondering if it indeed was what I was thinking! :-)
Author ButtonPusher Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 hmmmmmmm why doesnt this thing work??
wreck Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 If it's any consolation and i should really take some of my own advice i remember my break up before this when i'd feel like i was getting better then we'd have contact or meet and i'd fall into abyss again and feel like it hurt more than ever, but i think the harder you fall as you go on it becomes easier and quicker to get up again. IT still hurts like hell though. God i can't wait to get to that stage,m stilll at the very early stages right now :'''( x:(
Author ButtonPusher Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 Look if you're reading this thread, just ignore it. Its from a few months ago and I certainly dont feel like this anymore. It got shunted up to the top by accident, so please go advise someone that is seeking help. I'm just a dumbass.
