He was as stubborn as a mule and was highly dangerous with the wrong people near him. With me he was wonderful. In the wrong hands he would kick, bolt, buck, rear and barge.

...Again, just like my girlfriend! ;)

Tell em what perfection is though?

Last time I was looking to buy a horse I wanted a 15.2 coloured cob. I ended up with a 17hh bay that was the best horse I have ever owned. He wasn't advertised or anything like that. The horse was battered, belligerent, temperamental and not at all what I "wanted". But we got on like a house on fire. Over 20 years that horse and I had together... And trust me, sometimes it really was far from perfect...

So this time I am not looking for something in particular in a man I am simply looking for one that I get on really well with. Some one who, like my horse, makes a great team when they team up with me.

I love a good horse analogy!

So like relationships and horses, I have learned you don't look for superficial attributes like color, size, etc. So when I have looked for my horses, most importantly my latest, I look for what my end goal is. What do I want to do, and then what is their brain like? How quickly do they adapt? Forgive? Figure things out? Compromise.

Same with SO. I am not set in to tight perimeters physically. Sure, I prefer darker looks than lighter, but I am not locked into that. I look for sense of humor, work ethic, how their brain processes information, their ability and willingness to compromise.

Compromise is huge.Willingness to meet halfway. A person who wants to come to a happy medium instead of winning. A person who can take honest conversation and give it but doing so lovingly.

I don't believe there is ONE right one. I think a lot of people mesh together in differing ways. It is about finding a person who is willing to mesh with the attributes that work with you and without dealbreakers.

And knowing that relationships are never easy. They take energy, time, and focus to continue to thrive and grow. Just like with your partnership with your horse, the closest one gets is through training and working with them every day. It's about growing together, forgiving mistakes, and moving in unison.

My husband and I aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination and we each have attributes that drive each other crazy. But the ONE defining piece that I love so much about him, above all else, is his relentlessness in continuing to move forward. To work together. To figure out whatever obstacle and not give up. Just the desire to invest into the relationship allows us to over come so many issues that arise. And is the biggest example of his love.

You know, I was just remembering one job I was at and the wpmen were chatting and one of them was like 'Don't cook for your husband because then every day he's gonna expect you to cook'...Another was candid about how she was abused as a child and yells at her husband when she has stuff going on in her head.

And, see, that's my point about all this modern crap and how a lot of women treat their men...with utter disrespect. When you call someone a "partner", then it's easy to devolve into roommates who don't do things for each other anymore. That's sad... I mean, I can guarantee you that these women aren't doing the typical things a guy would do around the house for a woman (like cutting grass, putting out the trash, handiwork, washing/putting gas in car)...yet, somehow things a woman used to do to please a man and were expected of a woman (watching the kids, cooking, cleaning, sex) must be eliminated, split in half, or hire someone to do it (or he gets a mistress for the lack of sex).

This also ties into selfishness...cuz, so many women now are all about proving to the world that they can put on a wedding ring, pop out kids and have a job that it's all about her selfish needs and image. So, no one is at the home nurturing the family...and who cares, as long as she's happy m. Guys are guilty too, cuz they don't wanna be bothered with being a man and working long/hard hours to provide and protect, they're like bums with their hand out and demand wifey works, and who cares that the kids are fed McDs and are in daycare all day.

Selfish, unkind, and self-centered people who are dating, marrying, poping out kids and then destroying it like a house of cards when it isn't "convenient" for them anymore.

Yup, and then ^^^ these people end up being on the "Jeremy Kyle Show" (UK Show similar to Jerry Springer in USA, starring dysfunctional families and kids that need DNA tests etc....)

However in UK these folks aren't usually working, their lifestyles are funded by the UK taxpayer ie me.

Rant over.

Its crash TV... Last time I watched I ended up feeling so good about myself because my life is so much easier and so simple and happy in comparison.

I think that they do it to entertain themselves as they do not work so need something to stimulate themselves...

But that is my take on it anyway.
