poindimie Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hey, I started seeing this new guy about 4 weeks ago and really like him. Things have been going from strength to strength, and he seems to really like me too. Anyway unfortunately an extended family member of his died recently and today was the funeral. I sent a text message saying "Hey ****, have a nice day, am thinking of you "...the thing is, why did I say "have a nice day"?? its not a nice day at all, its a terrible day. So I was wondering, do I look insensitive and ever so slightly sadistic, or even worse like I have forgotten the funeral....? Im regretting the text now, wish I had of re-worded it...have a nice day.....lol......
jen_jen_heartbroken Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 So? Just call him and tell him that you meant to word it differently, and that you hope he's coping alright, and ask him if there is anything you can do to help him feel better. People are human...we all say things in error....just let him know it was not your intention to make light of the situation.
lindya Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Yep, I agree with jenjen. Just let him know that you weren't thinking straight when you wrote that. To be honest, he probably barely registered the comment. You tend to have other things on your mind at times like that.
Author poindimie Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Yeah Ill try to explain it. Is it THAT bad by the way? I know he's not the type to read into things either....

Rosalind Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 No...but yeah, you kinda messed up. If I received a message like that, I would certainly think - how insensitive! What you need to do now is acknowledge that it would not have been an especially good day for him...you don't need to apologize, but send another text saying - "I was thinking about you all day yesterday, I know it must have been an unpleasant day for you...call me when you feel up to it."
Author poindimie Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 I spoke to him before, no worries at all, I was reading into it wayyyyy more than him. Im lucky to be seeing such a nice guy :-)
