Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Ok so I've had a pretty ****ty break up and marriage but after being pretty much banned from speaking to old friends I have finally started to get back in touch with old friends from school/uni etc (I'm 31). One old friend in particular has been through a pretty torrid time herself and so we decided tonight to meet up and just see what happened. We had a couple of drinks and things felt like we'd seen each other last week not ten years ago so I suggested going for a meal and she was more than happy with with idea of a tapas place I knew. On the way there we came across a cocktail bar that looked good so we went in there. Couple of margaritas ordered and she insists on taking a pic of us and says right I hope you don't mind but this is going on facebook. I'm thinking hmmm ok but what the hell we aren't doing anything wrong and I saw the caption she had put under the picture saying Peter's girlfriend. Was a bit taken aback and more than a bit nervous that things had happened so quickly but I wasn't exactly unhappy with it and we went on to have a lovely meal and a really nice night. I've just got home and looked on Facebook, what I thought said Peter's girlfriend in actual fact said "me and Peter, girlfriends". Think I've just won friendzone!!!!!
Gaeta Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I've just got home and looked on Facebook, what I thought said Peter's girlfriend in actual fact said "me and Peter, girlfriends". Think I've just won friendzone!!!!! As in she is calling the both of you girl friends? lol
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Yup!!! I think it's safe to say I'm in the " I love you but like a brother" category! I'm obviously a bit gutted, I really like the girl but you've got to be able to laugh at yourself. Get back out there they said, it will do you the world of good they said. Well "they" are a bunch of plonkers!!! 1
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 If anyone can do any better let's hear it....think there are more than a few of us on here who could do with a smile so come on.....dating disasters, nothing heavy just stuff you can look back and laugh about.
Gaeta Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 The only story coming to mind is this guy I met on POF. We made contact, he was very nice and all. We set up a first meeting. It goes well. So during that period I was pretty busy and didn't get online often. Him and I got on a second date, a movie, things were alright but nothing to write home. Finally I get online to check messages and I see this guy's profile. He had changed his whole profile to: I FOUND THE WOMAN OF MY LIFE. And he went on and on about me, the little brunette who stole his heart lol. I thought I was dreaming or something. I had to terminate our contacts right there lol. 1

Haha yeah I think walking away was probably the right decision at that point. He's probably still got a post now about the little brunette who broke his heart!! 1

Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Haha sadly I'm waiting for the inevitable messages from friends in the morning who will be queuing up to congratulate me on being girlfriends with my date. To be fair, I'd do the same to them. Knew there was a reason I wanted to avoid this dating malarkey lol

To be fair, I'd do the same to them. Knew there was a reason I wanted to avoid this dating malarkey lol You could get a sweet revenge in asking her if she has cute friends she can set you up with :-) In a way it will come across as if you are passing her, not to your liking enough. 1
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Nah, think I've just got take this one on the chin and accept the inevitable backlash! I think I should probably have heard the alarm bells ringing when she pinky promised me we would always be in each other's lives before she went home. I am never ever dating again lol. Come on the rest of you, we can't be the only two who've had a dating nightmare, there's definitely solace to be found knowing you're in good company when it comes to making a total idiot out of yourself! 1
Methodical Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Maybe she was kind of showing you off to her girlfriends on FB . At any rate, gotta love that you can laugh at yourself and have fun with this instead of taking offense. Your attitude rocks ! 2
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 You've got to with something like this. Read some utterly heartbreaking stories on here and my own was no picnic but come on if you can't laugh at yourself over something like this then what's the point? It's just tomorrow/today I'm not looking forward to lol. I was going to delete the post before anyone woke up and saw it but then I'm thinking firstly, some already will have and secondly, I can't really deny people this opportunity to give me some grief! In all honesty, it's actually done me good to get out on a date even if it turned out the way it did.
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Plus the fact that we've known each other for ten years so all her friends are my friends as well is going to make today an amazing amount of fun :-( ah well lol
AMJ Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Come on the rest of you, we can't be the only two who've had a dating nightmare, there's definitely solace to be found knowing you're in good company when it comes to making a total idiot out of yourself! Oh just pick a thread of mine, any thread, at random....I'm pretty sure I'm in the making a fool of myself club by now. And I didn't even post about the guy who recently told me his UFO/man-made UFO conspiracy theory.
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Hahaha come on then....got to hear this!!
AMJ Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 This story isn't really funny, it's just sad. The one my friends are still very entertained with is the guy who thought people were trying to break into his house to kill/abduct him for several months. This guy just called me on the way to the date, to let me know he didn't shower but still was running late anyways, and then managed to bring up bitter stories about his high school guidance counselor (high school for both of us was over 15 years ago), then wanted me to know that he was too smart to watch television and loved reading white papers instead. Particularly white papers about how the government is creating UFOs that drop aluminum on us to prepare us for some genetically modified food and to be honest I stopped listening at that point and started drifting into some pretty serious and deep self pity. And then he wanted me to meet his dog, who happened to be waiting casually for us in his car. "Have you ever seen a UFO before?" he said. I was really hoping he had some very committed sense of humor and the whole thing was just an elaborate joke, but it was not. He spends days and days at a time on a boat by himself in the dead middle of the ocean and has done so since high school...I think that sort of life makes people a bit looney.
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 On reflection, I think I'm going to cancel the order on that boat.
AMJ Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Boats are cool, being by yourself in the middle of nowhere for 5 days is not cool.
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 There's a show here called The Undatables (think I'm going to bloody apply lol) but it's amusing in a way but also really sweet. There are people on there, often with social issues, sometimes autism etc but sometimes just overly shy. Whilst there are funny moments, and not in horrible way, just tales like that it's actually really nice because people like the chap you are talking about who wouldn't otherwise have much of a chance of a relationship end up meeting people who are ok with the quirks and eccentricities. I'm just going to apply on account of being rubbish at it lol. 1
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 I've spent quite a lot of time at sea, my parents live near a ferry port to Ireland and you can go over for the day for next to nothing as a foot passenger so used to go 20 times a year at least, spend four hours at sea having a beer and watching the sun go down. However, yeah I think in a little boat by yourself probably not such a great idea. 1
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Says me who lives on his own and is talking to someone on the other side of the world he's never met about said loony bloke at half four in the morning lol!!! 1
AMJ Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 The loony bloke is really not worth anyone's time anyway, I promise! The Undateables sounds hysterical! I've always said we needed a show like that here, just regular dating nightmares. Instead we have the stupid Bachelor and their rose ceremonies. I wonder if it's on BBC?
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 It's on channel four but presume there's no reason you can't download the same apps we can do look up 4 on demand. Guessing you tube probably has them As well. Well worth a watch in every way, it's sad, funny, sweet and plenty more besides. There was a guy with Tourette's on one episode and they didn't tell his blind date in advance, nor should they have done but after about thirty seconds Of them meeting in this pub he had a tick and gave it "massive t**s". Now Tourette's isn't something to laugh about but In this case it just was because the girl cracked up then said you want to try living with them or words to that effect and they got on like a house on fire and ended up together. 2
Author Pete2304 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Seen some of the American one's and very quickly turned off, sorry to say you don't half make terrible reality TV shows, they are painful to watch. 1
basil67 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Due to her poor grammar, I'm not entirely convinced that her comment means that she sees you as a girlfriend. In fact, I have absolutely no idea what message she is trying to convey.
