Shining One Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I'll echo what others have said about location. I've been online dating on and off for the last few years and I'm currently in a two-year relationship that started from OLD. I've messaged well over a thousand women, been on dozens of dates, and found one long term relationship. My location has thousands of women on OLD, so I never ran out.
leogirl876 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I've been online for a couple of months. Been out with about 10 different men. Mostly just first dates, 2 lead to a second date, but nothing after that. I'm not very optimistic of it, but it sure does make for some funny stories later if you have a good sense of humor! Hopefully, I'll find that needle in the haystack!
Gr8fuln2020 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 The interesting thing about LOCATION is that, in my mind, the more rural, the fewer options, but likely to stick it out. In larger populated areas, you may have many more options, but less likely to maintain a relationship for very long as there are SOO many "other" options knocking on one's door. I don't know for certain. I've always dated in more populated areas. I must say that LOCATION also speaks of culture! Depending on what part of the country one is in, that also very much affects dating and habits. Being of a multi-cultural background, being in the SOUTH of the USA is not idea and that includes more populated areas.
carhill Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 IME, good way to meet people one might not otherwise meet. If not for the tin can and string version of OLD I'd never have met the lady whom I was married to for a decade. Marriage didn't last a lifetime but that's not the responsibility of OLD, rather us. No complaints, used it as early as 1996. IMO, if you see it as a way of sorting through strangers who are ostensibly single and keep expectations in line with that reality, it works pretty well. Get things into personal contact, or not, as quickly as possible. No electronic romance. Good luck!
joseb Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Very much depends on where you are... Are you on the popular site in that area? Some sites that people like in one country are almost useless in another. I've had no luck at all with the older style sites, moderate success with tinder and copies.
introverted1 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Was on Internet date some years ago had no success. As moved to a new area in the UK I have re-joined an Internet site about a month or so ago. I am finding it very hot and miss. Just wonder what people's thoughts are with Internet dating and how many people have had success with it and how many people have bad bad luck with it? Sounds like you are doing well! Sorry, could not resist. It's a mixed bag for most... many threads if you do a search. Good luck!

Philosopher Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I was online 3,5 years. Met close to 200 men before meeting my boyfriend. Yes it works if you have patience, have a tough skin and are goal oriented. You certainly do have quite a bit of perseverance to go on that many online meet and greets over 3.5 years. I have met around 60 women over a four year period, with the vast majority not going beyond one date and sometimes feel like it is driving me crazy! If had been meeting one women a week over those four years I think I would have gone insane by now.
