I've been at my job a little over a year. I'm an office manager for a staff of salespeople across the US. I've never met most of the sales force I work with. There is one particular sales person whom I have grown very fond of. We talk multiple times per day. Where most of the group emails me he calls for everything. He may send 5 emails a month, but calls 3-5 times per day. Sometimes the calls are short and to the point, other times we have long drawn out conversations. He has mentioned multiple times how alike we are and often brings up conversation topics he knows we share the same feelings about.

He has never been overly flirty though. Some of the guys are and I blow it off as sales flirting. He is different though. We just talk. I feel like I've known him my entire life. We do text a funny pic, or email a pic. of something we find interesting every now and then, not super often, but with a somewhat increasing frequency.

When I was on vacation recently and the assistant manager filled in I discovered pretty much all contact with her was via email. So he did behave differently when I was away.

Over the course of the year I've developed pretty strong feelings for him. I feel crazy though because those feelings have developed solely from phone calls and a few emails/texts.

I don't want to say anything because I'm scared he's just being a nice sales guy. I don't want to keep pining away at someone who has not interest. We will meet later this year and I would really like to know what I'm walking into.

What are some subtle clues I can look for that he feels the same or some subtle hints I can drop to let him know I'm interested? I want to keep it where I can back away if I get the feeling he's not feeling it.

I'm 40, but feeling 16 all over again.
