ashy555 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 At the start of the year i went out for a drink with this guy I met online. It only lasted about 1 1/2 hours. I found him quite attractive but a little quiet. After that night we never contacted each other. It didn't bother me as I was also dealing with something else. Over the past couple of months hes started to contact me again. Now he keeps asking to catch up. I agreed to this week. Last night he asks me 'So when are we having movie night?'.... I am a bit over these home dates and movie night requests. I feel like they are for a little down the track. Would love someone to make an effort and maybe take me to dinner or go out for a few drinks. I told him I think we can do better than that. he says 'haha well it would be fun. What else would you want to do'? He knows I live alone, and I don't feel comfortable with that as he is still a stranger to me. I am thinking of just letting this one go. Maybe he is genuine and i could meet him for one more drink but then I am only getting a half arsed effort from him and he may just want to get laid. Lol
CaliGypsy Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Perhaps you could suggest a movie theatre and that he could choose the movie? You only went out the once, surely he's not already expecting to "Netflix and chill"?

Yeah netflix and chill is a big no no this early.
clia Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 The home date suggestions are a bit much, aren't they? So lazy and obvious. Tell him you want to go out to dinner (or whatever you want to do that is away from your house.). See how he responds. My guess is he won't follow through. If he does respond, do not bring him back to your place or go to his place! 1
CaliGypsy Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I understand what you're saying and I agree. I just wanted to turn his suggestion into an acceptable idea. All you can do suggest an alternative to "movie night" and see how he responds. If he's interested in getting to know you better he will certainly be amenable to that.
Author ashy555 Posted August 25, 2016 Author Posted August 25, 2016 I just said 'drinks maybe..' No response yet. To be honest.. his communications seems a little strange. I just get weary with fobbing men off in case they turn out to be a keeper. I don't have the right feeling about this guy anyway
mortensorchid Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I for one would be wary about seeing him to begin with, whether he wanted to come to your house or not. You had not seen or talked to him for months/weeks and now he wants to be with you again? That tells me he was with someone else for a bit and now wants to use his safety net (you). Am I wrong? Did you have contact between the initial meet and now? But if you're not comfortable letting him into your house, tell him you'd rather meet in a public place. If he's angry about that, you know your answer.

I asked him why he was contacting me only now and he said he had a few issues at the time. I agreed and told him I had a few things going on as well. He later asked what type of things I had going on and I just said I had a few issues with an ex which was bothering me. Which is 100% the truth. I then asked what he had going on. He got a bit weird about it, and said family issues. Then told me how he really wanted to kiss me at the end. He was kind of awkwardly hanging around like he wanted to so I believe him. Just would have thought if that were true he would have messaged me. I have just got a reply. I said 'maybe a drink' hes said 'at yours?' Sounds like I have my answer
ChickiePops Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I had a guy pull this crap on me once. I flat out told him he wasn't getting laid and that I was looking for a relationship. He laughed and bought me dinner. It wasn't a love connection but we had fun.

I would prefer him to at LEAST take me to dinner or drinks first. If it goes well then ill prepare for him to come inside. If not he can drop me off lol.
