Sad, I fear this may have gone pear shaped as predicted, I suggest another date and time I'll be in the area, he replied fast and said " sorry I'm not about on Fridays, still hoping to catch up "

So then I am fearful I left an overly stiff and formal email saying " yes it would be good to catch up, let me know when you are free, kind regards DLD " ~ we were work colleagues so would sign my emails kind regards and didn't want to sound pushy but it may have come out a bit stiff because I felt he could be evading me by not suggesting another date

I am para about my email now as this is day three and no response!

Worried what I wrote sounded bad, guess I'm craving some reassurance here now, not that he will contact me but my email was ok and I did nothing wrong, would appreciate it so, thanks Xxx

My only consolation right now is I think I have maintained dignity and don't seem a bunny boiler!

And another part of me gives up, can't be bloody bothered! It's all too hard, will probably be moving on as advised! It looks like he was " just being nice ", sad but true!

Once he declined, then if he wanted to meet up, it was his place to say "Not free on Friday, but let's shoot for next week." He didn't do that, so I'm afraid he's not very interested. He may simply have someone else at the moment. I'm sorry. But yes, maintain your dignity.
