Bringing her dog on a first date?

Go with your gut.

In my experience, when I have a lot of reservations about someone it usually doesn't pan out well in the end, as usually the reservations are things that point to incompatibilities.

I would flat out refuse a man bringing his dog along personally and would also be annoyed if we agreed to one thing then he kept trying to change the place, the time, add a dog, for no good reason....

A first date/meet should be just that. I agree. Just us, not your dog, your kid, your pet parrot etc...just us...later on there is plenty of time to bring your dog along or introduce your kid if all parties are okay.

She did not impose her dog, she asked him if it was ok, if it bothered him he had just to decline politely, instead he said yes so from there it's on him if he is unhappy with this arrangement.

Changing location is not a power game, it is often about ensuring personal safety, something men tend not to have to worry much about.
To be fair, sometimes it is a power game or some reason other than personal safety.

In the case of the OP, it doesn't seem like a power play though.

Apologies if I'm speaking out of turns OP, but it actually looks like he is trying to rid himself of his negative thoughts by talking them out here, so he doesn't bring them to the date.

Neither of them has done anything wrong thus far, given that the date hasn't even taken place yet - I'm for cutting them both some slack...

Thank you Emily.

Yes you're right I'm simply trying to establish what is too critical and overly negative on my behalf.

I don't want to be taking negative thoughts to the date. I always like to turn up with an open mind as after all there is nothing to loose apart from a couple of hours of my time. It's all an experience with something else to learn for next time.

As some of you correctly have picked up on I do want to find a genuine meaningful relationship. Yes I've met a lot of people, had several dates with some of them. Became exclusive with one until her hidden depression ruined it. I've met plenty only once.

I've had girls offer me sex, tell me all of their life's troubles, chat and laugh away hours at a time and also give me the cold fade.

I've seen it pretty much all with OLD. Yes I'm tired of weeding people out trying to find an emotionally stable, open, positive, happy person who's reliable.

I've naturally got reservations at times. I only wanted some advice and to thrash out my perhaps harsh negative feelings on this one. I'm not into wasting my own or anyone else's time. I'm 37 been through and seen a lot.

Thanks for the good advice from those of you who could see my reasoning and why I was here asking for a little advice.

There is nothing to loose by meeting her tomorrow. She was nice to speak to on the phone, so IRL she will probably be nice. I can only take her as I find her IRL.
