Sthrngem87 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 So my relationship with my bf is pretty new still. It's only been 3 months but he's such an awesome guy that I'd like to start doing things that men actually like to show my appreciation. He refuses to let me pay for dinner or anything like that. I already do things like give him back massages, play video games that I really don't care for with him because he wants to do it, bring treats for his dog, etc. So guys, what are some things a girl has done or you wish she would do to show appreciation? 2
Grisho Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Gorgeous post. I love that you take treats for the dog. Just gorgeous. Unfortunately, we don't have enough infor to really help yet. How often do you see him? What sorts of things do you do when you see him? What kind things does he do for you? DO you both go to each other's homes? Do you cook together? Are you both working or studying? How old are you both? What hobbies do you each have when you're alone?

We see each other once during the week and I typically stay over the weekend. We cook, watch movies, go to amusement parks, try out new restaurants, have game nights, etc. He works in IT full-time. I'm a web editor and I'm working on my second degree. Hes into cooking, tech stuff, craft beer, comics, comedy, cycling, and he's pretty handy. I'm into gaming, art, trivia, weight lifting, tech stuff, etc.

Author Sthrngem87 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Both. Most of the time he cooks for me and he genuinely likes doing it. Like if I don't have time to stay for breakfast he'll insist on me taking something with me. Or if I say I'll pick something up on the way over he'll tell me he doesn't want me to spend my money on food. Aforementioned cooking, always making sure my needs are met first in bed, buying me gifts, fixing things in my apartment and a lot of intangible things like actively listening, being able to apologize when he's wrong, being patient with my hyperactive dog lol
Grisho Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 What sorts of gifts? Just trying to get a sense of if it's incidental spending or extravagant.
basil67 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Are gifts his "thing"? Perhaps he'd prefer appreciation to be shown in other ways. He might appreciate you planning a picnic. Or doing his mending. Or doing something wild in bed....or lots of cuddles. Read up on the 5 Love Languages and show your appreciation in his language. 2
Miss Peach Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 My BF won't let me pay for anything either. Here's some things I've done: - Cooked for him or brought over food - Brought treats he likes such as drinks and snacks - Small presents - Surprised him with tickets to things. Some I purchased and some were free from things like work raffles. - Listen to him vent about work and provide him some clarity back on what he told me - Packed a picnic 3

I'm bringing over food and his favorite craft beer tomorrow. He's loves when I make him anything that's wrapped in bacon. Thanks! 1
