It had to come out sooner or later. For a while now, I have noticed this library assistant at a library that I frequent being a little more friendlier to me than usual. Let me just point out that because I am a regular at this library, I have my friendly relationships with a few of the employees there. Other employees are rather cordial but strictly business. One example of me being cool with an assistant is this one girl who I actually talk to, but she has a boyfriend and a child, so she is off-limits. However, we are still cool.

 

This other girl, on the other hand, gets rather smiley when I am around and even asks me how my weekend went and how my day is going. We engage in some small talk and she is often quick to say hello and is still smiley when she does so. Keep this in mind, I am a regular at this library, so most of the people there know me. But with the way this girl is acting towards me, do you think she is just being nice or do you think she is attracted to me?

As a rule, if she works in customer service she probably is just being nice to you. That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with asking out anyone you casually find attractive. I'd suggest to do it without the expectation that she will become your girlfriend though, I think some people take the idea of dating a little too seriously. Dating is supposed to be fun, not something that adds stress to your life.

If you are interested in her, just ask her out for lunch/high tea/dinner, you name it, to check out if she's interested in you as well. P/S: Normally a girl smiles a lot at a guy when she likes him.

I will keep what some of you said in mind. The fact is that I have seen the way she interacts with other patrons and the way she interacts with me. She is rather professional and cordial to some other patrons, but towards me, she is a little more friendly than the other employees. I will try to keep my eyes open.
