Zippy2000 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Relationship Status "Married to" My question or I d like some input on peoples thoughts and opinions are on "Married to" means when a girl I was going to ask out changed her status from single to married to. A little bit of back ground. I have a work colleague I liked for a while but my friends go fed up it wasnt developing so a so call friend bumped into her in the canteen. He told her someone one was interested in her and it he felt it was kind of like back at school and asked would it be alright to email her at work or FB her. She relied she was flattered and said it would be ok. Just this evening as I went on her FB I ve noticed she`s changed her relationship status from single to married to. She knows who I am as I sit next to my friend and we do have friends in common. Is this her sending a hint she`s not interested or do some people add best friends as married to as I have some friends who have done this. Thoughts?
JewelD Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 How old is she? I've married a friend b4 on fb but I was young and way too wrapped up in social media. idk what any of this means, but it seems a bit juvenile. Why not just approach her yourself in person? Who knows what your 'friend' actually said to her and what she said to him. 1
Moondaisy Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I don't know what to say about the situation,but... or do some people add best friends as married to as I have some friends who have done this. Huh? I've never heard something like that before. 1

I have no other way of speaking to her but it was my friend who just went up and spoke to her. I didnt ask him to. My friend is down to Earth and genuine and I believe what he tod me.
Author Zippy2000 Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 I don't know what to say about the situation,but... Huh? I've never heard something like that before. Yes, some of my female friends have put married to their best friend.
Gaeta Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Just this evening as I went on her FB I ve noticed she`s changed her relationship status from single to married to. Married to whom? Is this her sending a hint she`s not interested or do some people add best friends as married to as I have some friends who have done this. Thoughts? I think she accidently clicked on something. One of my ex sister-in-law had ID me as her spouse. Just an accident.

Just an accident. Her status shows married to a male. Thats what Im confused abouyt. It was showing single but now married to. Do you think she is sending a message out saying "Im not available"?

I don't understand why you can't talk to her in person? Before or after work if they don't allow you to talk at work. Nobody on here will be able to tell you what it means because it could mean a few different things. It may have been an accident, he could be a friend, could be a new bf, maybe she realized the person who likes her is you and she's saying she's not interested. There's only one way to find out. 1
smackie9 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I think the "status" is just for the person she says she's married to....has nothing do with anyone else. It's their moment....let them relish in it.

smackie9 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Remember in summer camp when the camp counselors would "marry" some of the campers at the forest chapel for fun? I think it's kind of the same thing.
Art_Critic Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I have an 18 year old niece and nephew that have had married to on their FB's before.. normally they pick a friend of theirs.. they also put they were in college when they were in high school too.. you can't trust what people put on their profile Young people do that... Why get all worked up over something like that, it's just FB and isn't the real world... 1
Toodaloo Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I get the feeling its just joshing about. Means nothing. FB is not reality. Don't worry about it.
PegNosePete Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Life is so much simpler if you make your FB relationship status private. 1
Scarlett.O'hara Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I would take it as the hint that despite being flattered at the time, it made her feel a little uncomfortable, especially if she doesn't know who your friend was talking about. She might even suspect that it is actually him. Some young women who aren't very confident dealing with men tend to deal with these situations rather passively, so instead of rejecting someone outright, she will pretend to be receptive then send out subtle hints to say she is unavailable (even if she is actually single). It is also possible that she is playing the “married to” game with her friends, and that the coincidence. I does seem unlikely that a 24 year old would be playing a game that teenagers play on social media, but not impossible. You would hope that she had outgrown that by now. Looking at the information you have provided, I think it is most likely that she is just uncomfortable with the situation, and this is her clumsy way of dealing with it. Perhaps, it was her friend who suggested it? Either way, I wouldn't see it as a rejection against you personally (she may not even know it is you) it might just the situation that she felt uncomfortable about. It is up to you how to proceed, but I would caution you to take note of her behavior and decide if you still think she is worth pursuing.

Thank you Art Critic for your input and advice It looks like she has chosen a friend of hers as I can see she had got "married" on the 8th Aug with this person. My friend asked her yesterday so itd likely its all coincidence. I mean you wounldnt change your status and then back date it.

My friend said she was really nice to speak to but a bit shy. I suspect she knows its me becuase I sit next to my friend at work and people can put one and one together. Also changing her status may be conincidence. Like I mentioned earlier the status changed on the 8th August. I mean you wouldnt change the status and back date it.
Author Zippy2000 Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Ok, guys. Thank you for all your input. Ive decided to message her tonight. I m going to take a risk and send her a message. I dont have the opportunity to speak to her at work as we work in different departments but she walks past my desk for the vending machine. The industry we work in doesnt give us the opportunity to speak to each other but Im ok with whats happend and in a way glad that my friend made a move for me. Im glad he did as I d be still sitting pondering wonder and waiting for that "perfect moment" that never happens to ask a girl out. I d rather take a risk and lose face and be embarrassed for a few days but I ll move on happy I did something about it. As JEWELD said. Theres only one way to find out and thats to ask. Please wish me luck Exciting times:D 1
Toodaloo Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Good luck! I will have fingers crossed it all goes well. But just remember nothing ventured nothing gained if it all goes Pete Tong!
