My company has a big annual party in a few days and my crush will be attending. I was a little nervous that her very close guy friend (who she worked with for almost a year before he left) would also attend but I hadn't heard anything so I thought I was in the clear. This would've been great since it'd just be me and her and I could make a move.

Today she told me that her guy friend "might" come in town for the party after all... That completely ruined my mood for the whole week and now I'm devastated and don't even want to attend the party if he's going. The two of them are very close and even though he has a girlfriend of almost 2 years, him and my crush are "BFF's". He'll visit her/the area every few months and stay at her place but she's always insisted he is like her brother and not her type. I just don't believe her...

I want to know for sure if he's going but I doubt I'll be able to find out until the day of the party. And straight up asking her if he's going or not isn't an option. At this point I'm now trying to plan on what to do if he's going but it is killing me and I don't know how to be motivated to attend the party if he'll be there. Any thoughts/advice?

I would just move on from this crush honestly. They probably are screwing around or have in the past. It's very strange for a man with a gf to sleep at a female friend's home, unless one of them was gay.

You are already bothered by his presence and she doesn't even know you like her. He's probably not going to disappear if you and her started dating so why even bother putting yourself in that situation?

I think you should just go to the party and have fun, don't go just for her. Maybe you'll meet someone else there!
