GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Ok so this girl viewed me on match.com I sent her a message and she replied etc... Her profile states she is a Few Extra pounds but when I see her pictures she looks good looking with Average/Curvy body... I don't think she is fat... she has fully body photos.. Why would she say she is bigger than she is??
Bialy Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Maybe it's been a while since she has updated that section. Your definition of curvy might be another man's definition of "extra pounds" - this could also be a way of her keeping expectations realistic.
Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Yeah you could be right etc... I do think she not fat at all... Her pictures looks nice and her body has a nice curve to it.... Edited August 7, 2016 by GTR King
BaileyB Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Women feel a lot of pressure to meet a very unrealistic standard for body size/weight. What to you might be average/nicely curvy... To her may be a few pounds she is always trying to loose. Don't worry about it. She will be so happy if/when she knows that you think her body is beautiful. It's very hard for us sometimes to feel beautiful when we are constantly being told that we should loose weight and try to meet a standard that is damn near impossible to attain!
losangelena Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Oh, yeah. When I did OLD, I listed myself as having a few extra pounds. I made sure to have a full body shot, too. I was determined to portray myself accurately in that regard, because as someone who's struggled with their weight and in keeping it off, I didn't ever want to be accused of false advertising. Anyway, I think 99% of the men I met were pleased. I even had men message me and argue with me, saying that I should list myself as curvy or even average. Some were like, "you look ideal to me," etc.
Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Yeah that is true I just like what I see & will keep messaging her... she just told me she has autoimmune thyroid disease will the be a problem?? Edited August 7, 2016 by GTR King
LookAtThisPOst Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Funny thing, I would see women with photos on POF that look like they have great figures...but then have "prefer not to say" as body type. I kind of scratch my head on that one. Some are even thin.
LookAtThisPOst Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Oh, yeah. When I did OLD, I listed myself as having a few extra pounds. I made sure to have a full body shot, too. . Yeah, I stay away from the pictures where: 1. All 7 pictures are selfies 2. The pictures are so close to their faces that they cut out the 2nd chin I mean, at least have a single photo from the waist up. Or you see the ones where they are crouched with a pet or kid in front of them or doing a peek-a-boo pose from behind an old oak tree where the rest of them is behind the tree.
Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Yeah I need photos of there body/face so I know what I am dealing with... I don't like it when there only face shots selfies etc... when she said I have this autoimmune thyroid disease should I stay clear or still worth meeting up on a date... I have never heard of that before
BaileyB Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Thyroid disease is no big deal. She probably takes a replacement hormone, many women do. Google search - nothing serious. But, depending on whether she is hypo or hyper thyroid, weight gain is sometimes one of the symptoms of the disease. But, obviously, not a worry... Just saying, maybe that is part of the reason why she is self-conscious. Good luck.
Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Ok she just asked me why I am on match.com & what's wrong with me So I told her I am on match.com as got no luck in town & I am looking to date someone then hopefully a relationship in the future & told her what's wrong with me (It's better to tell the truth not lie) wow she just split up with her b.f 3 weeks ago Edited August 7, 2016 by GTR King
Gr8fuln2020 Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Ok so this girl viewed me on match.com I sent her a message and she replied etc... Her profile states she is a Few Extra pounds but when I see her pictures she looks good looking with Average/Curvy body... I don't think she is fat... she has fully body photos.. Why would she say she is bigger than she is?? I agree with others...your view of her is subjective, so you may think she's average, but she does not or "most" others would not. Another possibility is that her pics do no represent who she is NOW. The pics may be older and she is representing herself more accurately by saying that she is a FEPs. Most of the time, people go the other way. I've seen women claim to be fit when the photos clearly do not reflect that. Oh, well...

No_Go Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 She probably thinks she has a few extra pounds which is VERY different from fat. Beyonce has a few extra pounds. Tess Holiday is fat. You see the difference? Ok so this girl viewed me on match.com I sent her a message and she replied etc... Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Yeah I do see that.... But still gonna meet up with her if she wants 2 Her body shape is more like Beyonce only down side is my Match.com Subscription ends 26th August The reason she split up with her b.f is she was doing all the work & he wasn't into the romantic stuff & didn't want *** she told me i didn't ask Edited August 7, 2016 by GTR King
longjohn Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 I think people are people.. some ladies have a very different view of what constitutes a few extra pounds vs curvy vs full figured. I've seen ladies on sites that said a few extra pounds and I've thought.. don't know what mirror she's looking in but she's more than a "few" extra pounds lol and like yourself I've seen the opposite where they clearly didn't need to mark themselves as a few extra pounds. Then again I've no doubt there's plenty of balding middle aged men with beer bellies out there saying they are "fit" haha. Online dating swings both ways I suppose. Which is why it's always a good idea to just meet people in the flesh. No more guessing no more wondering why they didn't text back in three days. Yes they were busy alright.. with another guy haha. 1
Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Yeah that's so true... I have have had both happen to me before when doing OLD
longjohn Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Yeah that's so true... I have have had both happen to me before when doing OLD Social events are the best place to meet ladies. I've met ladies at conferences, classes, college classes, online (most flaky), beach, hotels on holiday etc.
Author GTR King Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Thanks for that advice.. Still talking to this girl so all good Edited August 7, 2016 by GTR King 1
Author GTR King Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Is 3 weeks too soon after breakup to join dating sites?? I get the feeling she don't know what she wants at moment... Her: it's hard to switch feeling totally off (Meant her ex) you know? and I am sure you don't want to wait for me lol. Ha is that right?! X Me: Don't be silly..... I can wait for you I am in no rush xx Her: We might not get on and (Town I live in) is far X We only live 20/30 mins away from each other.... She don't like driving on big roads So should I stay clear from this one?? Or should I be careful and still talk to her?
JoeSmith357-1 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 They are probably old photos. Dating online in your mid-late 30's are all about finding women who posted photos of themselves: pre-kid from 5-10 years ago from 50-100 pounds ago
SoThatHappened Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Let me help you here, OP: - She's freshly out of a relationship and clearly not over the ex (strike 1) - She's asking what's wrong with you because you're on a dating site? (strike 2) - She thinks a 30-minute drive is far (strike 3) "Next" this one and move on.
Author GTR King Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Thanks for your advice I have been talking to her today with more banter/flirting & she has enjoyed it. She stopped talking about her ex... Which is good... I am not getting my hopes up & gonna be careful...
Author GTR King Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 Update: we are going on a date tonight her Idea... We are meeting 7.30 outside Nando's (Never been to Nando's in my life) in next town to me 20/30 mins drive away Hopefully date will go well but will see what happens
