KamaKyzie Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Hi there loveshack, I've laid off the stupid texts since I last posted and things have been going well, I have a plan to ask this girl out at the end of the month. She texted me asking me how my day was and I replied that I was caught up at the moment but would call her later (I have called her every Sunday night for the last two weeks). She replied "Or you could just text me when you're done". This made 3 things go through my head: 1. She's tired and doesn't want to talk 2. She's not really into me 3. She wants to text another guy while I'm texting her, which I will admit was my primary thought (Last time I called she said she was snapping another guy "Best friend" while I was talking to her). How would you interpret this? How should I reply? I'm tempted to reply "Talk tomorrow then" or "Don't worry about it then" or "Whatever". She knows I like her, her sister asked me and I was honest, so I don't want to be led on as I'm not desperate and if that's what she wants to do then I would rather move on. I know I might sound ridiculous, but that's why I'm posting this. When I'm emotional I can say and think stupid things, so I'm seeking some objective opinions and advice before sending something I can't undo. What do you think? Thanks guys.
BaileyB Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 She might just prefer to text you. Don't necessarily read more into it than you should. Some people would just much rather text than talk on the phone. If you like her, follow her lead and show her that you will do what she prefers. But then, ask her out and spend some time together in person... Much better than texting or talking on the phone.
HumanMachine Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Jeez you need to chill "Text me when you're done" Is sooner than "I'll call you later" She wants to talk to you sooner rather than later.....
Erik30 Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Why are you planning all these "phone dates," instead of just asking her out right now? And also a lot of people just prefer texting.
Lois_Griffin Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 She sounds like your typical lazy Millennial who'd rather text then engage in actual human interaction - also known as talking on the phone. Nothing new to see here, folks.
lana-banana Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Oh, please. Plenty of people prefer texting and email to phone calls. I don't like to talk on the phone with people I don't know well, because it seems like my IQ drops about thirty points. (It takes a lot of prep work for me to do phone interviews!) I've also asked people to text/email rather than call when I've had a bad cold or been in a subway station. And in this case she could have simply been providing you another means of contact because she thought it might be easier for you. You were reading way, way, way too much into this. What matters is she asked you to contact her, which is the exact opposite of avoiding interaction. You should have reached out to her, either with a call or a text. And I agree with the other posters. Why wait? Why not ask her out now? 2
No_Go Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Or she's just not a phone person. I HATE talking on the phone and avoid it on all costs. Even if I need to schedule Dr's appointment - I do it online. Calling I use and associate mainly with emergencies or elderly relatives that can't e-mail/text. Both are not sexy.
