Unsureofmyself Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Hi, I am 29 and just met a nice guy at a poker game of all places. We got to talking while we were playing and decided to get a drink at a coffeplace. There we spoke a bit more and he told me that he is 46, divorced with 2 children, aged 23 and 5. He is also a smoker, rather poor, much less educated than me and lives on the other side of this planet. He gave me his number and email address. I think he is nice but don't want to get too attached for now. does anyone think this has a chance, or should I get out before anyone gets hurt?
Zaira Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Why not just be friends? Nothing wrong with having a broad range of friends.... see how things go. Although if it were me, I'd find him too old, and with too much baggage to start a relationship.
soccorsilly Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I disagree on the whole baggage line of thinking but a great friend of mine told me once that I should adhere to the DECADE RULE --never date someone ten years younger or older than you. Now ROb was divorced and sowing his oats so to speak, and was dating a woman who waas 52 and he was 34 or 35. The sex was incredible, they had a lot of fun when it all came crashing down on him. It was Thanskgiving and he was cooking dinner and looked out to the living room and she was there looking seductive and sexy, when it dawned on him "OH SHYT THIS WOMAN IS TWO YEARS YOUNGER THAN MY MOM" And that did it for him. And his Decade Rule was born. I think it is pretty legitimate.
Pocky Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Originally posted by Unsureofmyself He is also a smoker, rather poor, much less educated than me and lives on the other side of this planet. I'm confused as to why you're even considering anything when I read this sentence. It's apparent he doesn't measure up to what you want (everyone has their standards - don't compromise). He doesn't sound like an option - why make him one?
ReluctantRomeo Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I agree with Pocky - it's not so much the age as the whole range of factors. Especially the bit about living on the other side of the planet.
