So I've liked this girl for about a year now, and she's like no other girl. I haven't met someone so beautiful and kind as her in my life. She never ignores me or gives me a rude remark. A group of friends and I went to the zoo. She was with us. I prepared to talk to her for about a week, thinking and writing out what I would say to her. When I was finally alone with her, outside one of the cafés, I told her that I had feelings for her. She said that it would be awkward if something happened between us. I didn't want to make a commotion so I agreed with her. I texted her later that day saying I was sorry for making our friendship awkward. She said it's completely fine and we've stayed friends ever since that. I can't get over her, rather than any other girl, because I keep thinking to myself if she likes me or not. No other girl that I've met would keep a friendship like that in this situation. I just need help whether or not I should let my heart follow her or to just forget about it.

Forgetting isn't a realistic option, but acceptance of the situation is.

Just accept the reality of the situation and adapt to it.

Adaptation is the key.

You might need to shed some tears and grieve the loss of what might have been, but don't spend too much on that, because you've got a life to live.

Take care.

Well said, Satu. My opinion and will only speak for myself but don't 'stay friends' with someone you have loved so much. I could go on and on but it's all you need to know.

... and I know it hurts, too. In the beginning.

Moral of the story - don't wait a year to make your move. Girls like when a guy takes action.
