I am kinda curious. I was cleaning my room. I found my ex's clothes was tuck away in a suitcase hidden from my view for more than 6months.

How many of you are still keeping your ex's clothes and stuff after months of breaking up?

I don't think I've ever intentionally done this. In general, I've made it a point to find every last scrap of theirs to give it back to them. A metaphorical cleaning of the slate, if you will.

I believe the best thing to do is to get rid off everything. If the relationship is over for good, what's the point of keeping stuff? reminiscing?

¨Past to trash¨. Forget the past, it's gone.

Now you have the opportunity of a fresh start, looking for new things that you'll enjoy, perhaps with someone new.

Keep memories, no mementos.

I always got rid off everything that was related to my exes, I've never regreted it.

I don't know about a suitcase full of clothes but I think it's good to keep a few mementos if the relationship was meaningful to you. I've got stuff from various exes.

I do this, though as it's turned out, it just means I own several boxes that I never, ever open. :D

That's cool tho, they're almost like safe deposit boxes that you keep your history in.

I have nothing that belongs to them.

I have a few gifts they bought me, but that's it. Few. Like ... two or three in total.

The clothing that I got from my ex I threw all away. We both gave all our stuff back to eachother. You will never use it anymore anyway. Move on

I got rid of all my ex's stuff right away, kept her toothbrush around for about a week I think.

But I bought a bunch of roses for Valentines, that I placed all over my apartment. When we went back to mine that night she seemed so happy, the next morning she took a bunch of pictures of them and posted all over social media. She dumped me a week later.

I couldn't get myself to throw out those flowers. They were rotting and had turned black. I put them all together in a vase, and left them in a corner of my living room for 6 weeks, before working up the courage to throw them out. Cried like a baby when I did. Sounds ridiculous now..

Generally, I think you're just prolonging your own misery by keeping memories of them, but it all depends on why you're keeping them

I just boxes everything up and I'll be mailing it back to him. Why would I want to keep anything? I'm in love with him, and I don't need that to hinder me. I'm extremely sentimental so the longer I hold onto it, the longer it'll take me to recovery. Even hiding it won't do justice.

As for the break up, think it came as a shock to you thats why it took you so long to throw away the roses. You made effort to decorate you apartment and it was a meaningful day for the both of you. Understandable.
