Author kolleamm Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 Very good point kolleamm. I just dont think alot of guys have the balls to smile and say hi anymore. Its a shame Whenever I say hello to a woman I use a medieval accent. The look on their face is hilarious.
five2nine Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I paid for eharmony and met my bf right away. I tried match before that. Never met with anyone on there. So it varies?
Dork Vader Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 There is no point in paying for upgrades on websites such as POF, Okcupid, Tinder or any of the "free" websites. You can still communicate and get the attention of people on those sites with out paying for it. Some of the dating websites such as Match.com are worth paying for a subscription. For what ever reason these websites have a more serious tone. I think it's because the subscriptions are not cheap and people don't want to waste it. I have seen the womans side of free internet dating. It is a sausage fest, full of a bunch of super fit sex addicts that the average guy can not compete with. My female friend is cute, but definitely only average. In less then 3 days on tinder she had 58 mutual likes. All 58 were in amazing shape and fairly attractive. I'd say 50-55 of those men just wanted flings. 3-4 were either looking for something more serious or really hidng their intentions well.

I don't think "serious" is always necessarily a good thing. People aren't checklists. Filtering out bad matches by a few deal breakers is great, but I don't really understand the point of writing a book for your profile - or lengthy, drawn out message exchanges. Glance at a few profile pics, read a short bio, and connect with people in your league. A few brief messages, then meet or don't. I find OKC and POF to best for that. I really like the concept of Tinder but am bummed it basically became a hookup site. In real life, you see somebody, you approach them, chat for a few minutes, and the chemistry is there or it's not. A dating app that could replicate that experience would be awesome. No amount of text messaging or profile word count was able to prevent lack of chemistry or bad first dates where I knew instantly it was not a match... Edited July 29, 2016 by CryForNoOne
CryForNoOne Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I think its great you know how to strike up a convo with a woman IRL. I feel like men dont pick up women anymore...gone are the days of men actually having the confidence to approach women. Men dont try to pick me up ever....but I'm not at bars alot either. The only time I go to bars is when I'm on a date. Sometimes I think it would be interesting to go to a bar by myself and see what happens. Thats actually something I want to do...work up the nerve to walk into a bar by myself...I'm alittle hesitant but I want to try it. My friend's husband says men are intimidated by my looks and thats why I dont get picked up. I wish more men could be like you and just go for it. I'm really friendly and have no problem carrying on a convo...I'd make it easy for a guy to say hi. When I decide to date again I'm going to try to avoid OLD for as long as possible...but I have to put myself out there...I just dont really how...men are scared of me apparently lol You should definitely try it! Anything that takes you outside of your box almost always leads to pleasant surprises. If you went alone, I guarantee you will get hit on. Almost any time I see a pretty lady walk into a bar alone, they arrived first and are meeting their date. Within seconds, the barflies descend on them. I love it when a 50-something creep starts hitting on a 26-year old, because it's the perfect good cop - bad cop setup. It's a win-win as you're always a gentleman who rescued her until her date arrives with the off chance you get a number if she really is alone... Too bad I don't live in Boston anymore because I'd love to take the Pepsi challenge. Pick a night at a random bar. No set time or exchange of pics and see if I could get your number ;-)
