Is it impossible to make friends after 30?

Almost everyone that I talk to or attempt to make friends with all prefer to spend time with either their college BFFs, childhood besties or high school BFFs. Geez. Is this really what it comes down to? No room for new people?

Of course you can. I'm 55 and still make new friends almost weekly.

 

Join a club or an organization with interests you like, and you'll meet a whole host of new friends.

If those people don't want to be your friends find new ones. Join a club or find a hobby where you can meet others. Just be friendly. BTW, what happened when you went over to your bf's house to confront him?

I haven't had that experience. I'm 36 and have made the closest friends of my life in the last five years.

 

I don't know what to tell you as far as improving your odds. Living in L.A. it's easier because no one's from here, so everyone has to make new friends.

 

I will say though that my real close friends I've made while pursuing different interests. I post on Yelp, have for years, and my closest friend and I met through that site. We were "friends" for years and then I invited him for a coffee, and we've been actual friends ever since.

 

Where are you meeting these people who don't want to be friends?

Two of my very best girlfriends I made in my late thirties and early forties. It's never too late.

I'm meeting these people through meet up groups! Seems like the majority of them just go to these events because they are bored on a Friday night, but yet they have their own group of friends and don't bother to let a newcomer in. Either that, they don't like me enough to join in on their social circle

I have more friends now than I ever did in my teens and 20's....I am just over 30...
