I want to date the girl not her dog or cat, Yet i frequently see pictures of just their pets on their dating profiles, or the girl with her pet....

Are people with pets somehow more attractive or friendlier?

I think it's annoying when people post all sorts of pics of their pets on OLD. Seriously, I wanna see what you look, not what your dog looks like. The same thing when they post a picture of nature or something. Annoying!!!

They actually DO attract me. I am a huge animal lover and would not mind seeing pictures of someone's pets on a dating profile. Now if there were NO pictures of the person at all, then that would be a red flag.

I want to see what someone VALUES in life and seeing pics of someone's pets would clue me in that this person considers their pet to be very important to them.

They attract me if done the right way and in moderation because I'm an animal lover and it's something that I look for in a partner when looking for a serious relationship.

I have a pic in my profile with my dog - just 1. The purpose of your profile is not just to show people your face. It's to show them your personality and who you are, what your interests are so you can identify things in common. So showing my dog is part of showing my interests and personality and helps me to get matches with people who share that interest. Simple really.

Filling your entire profile with pics of your cat or dog on the other hand is too much and basically just flagging to others that you might be a crazy cat lady :)

Posting pictures of pets or animals one enjoys is often attractive to other animal lovers and it does say something about the person in terms of personality and preferences. Cute or fun photos can also help result in a little transference to viewing the person as cute and fun or cuddly or friendly too. Personally, I would find it odd to date someone who doesn't enjoy animals and doesn't have pets.

That all being said, I do find it very odd....and strangely not uncommon for people to post dating profiles with no picture of themselves or very vague ones. I wonder how that works out for them. Dating is about sharing and taking calculated risks.

I have always put up pictures of my dog in my profile. It was not meant to attract, it was meant to INFORM men that I am a dog owner which is an important information for those who are not dog friendly or who are allergic.

I usually don't mind if it's one, or if they have enough other pictures of themselves. When the best picture in their profile is one of their pets, it gets annoying.

But I get why they are in there. They are looking to attract other pet lovers, and that's a good way to do so.

I like to let people know I'm a crazy dog lady.

He wears Halloween costumes, bathing suits, glasses, Mohawks and gets burgers and fries on his birthday. There's nothing wrong with that......right?

I am an "animal person" with dogs / cats /horse.

I don't like pet pictures as profiles.

While I have pets, they do not define me.

Why folks want to promote the notion of them being an “animal lover” that are on an OLD site is beyond me. “imagery matters” basic marketing 101.

For the most part when people post damn near anything EXCEPT a true CLEAR honest picture a clear sign of insecurity. Like heavy folks posting only face pics.

You can hash out the animal lover stuff when communicating, go on a dog walk for first meet if that is important to you.

Kids, pets, cut outs of exes, pics with groups of people all fall into this category. Amazes me that folks don’t get that.

There are people out there that are quite clueless about how to do a profile that would appeal to anyone with potential. I say 90% of them could use some fixin. If I was looking I would expect at least one photo of their lifestyle/hobbies like being outdoors camping for example. A photo with your dog sure why not? But kids? definitely not. Meh group photos I would find it a waste of space...save those for FB. I think the worst is professional photos taken in a studio....so bad, especially if it's like from 15 years ago. Or their high school grad pic lol.

I laugh at the photos men put up with the man holding a big fish...

And, don't even get me started about the motorcycle pictures!

Seriously, a nice photo is what I want to see or I'm moving on...

I am attracted to men that have pet pictures. I am an animal lover (all animals: wild, domestic, anything). I have dated non animal lovers before and it didn't work for me; I want multiple pets in a serious relationship. So yeah, I have pet pics and "must be an animal lover" in my profile. I want to encourage men that are not into animals not to contact me.

I saw this some time ago, so sharing.

-35% percent of women and 26% of men said they had been more attracted to someone because they owned a pet.

-76% of women and 60% of men evaluated dates based on whether their own pets like the person.

-64% of women and 49% of men said they were more attracted to a person if they owned a rescue animal.

-75% of the women and 54% of the men said they would not date someone who did not like pets.

-And, oh, yeah, what is the sexiest pet a guy can own? This graph shows the responses of nearly 600 women. Dogs win by a mile. If you want to meet girls, don’t get a rabbit.

Folks are gonna do what they gonna do, Ladies if you want to think that having a dog in the pic will get you the dude fine. We all have our preference but I’m just gonna say…. If you are a smart, intelligent, hot, engaging, educated, got your $#it together you think a pet pic is needed to IMPROVE how a dude processes you?

The thing is when I see women with pet pics, particularly as PRIMARY OLD profile pics, the pet is the most prominent object in the pic. That makes no sense to me. Remember I’m not talking pet pics in your profile, not a problem I’m talking either primary pic OR the majority of someone’s pics.

Now will add MEN with pet pics different vibe because some women get drawn in to fluff, they think it's "cute"

Don't get the pet pics....it could be that some people have so few pics w/o their pets, so coincidental. My other thought is that some have so few friends or get out that having a pic with pet is the only things they put up?

Well, seeing a pet in an OLD profile pic fills in for me a check on one box ("does she have any pets?"). And moves to the next, which is "where does she let the beast sleep?"

I do not care to share any bed with animals, and for me that's a deal-breaker. Others I know feel very differently. To each etc,

I get excited when I see that the person has no pets. It's funny, but I think most ladies I've dated did not have a pet. I am okay with innocuous cats. I am not a big pet lover for various reasons. I find it a little disparaging how some of these pets are locked up in apartments, leashes while the owner goes off and does his/her own thing. But, yes, the sleeping on the bed thing. Ugh. The smell/odor of the dog, hair....ugh.

But if a woman's profile is all about animals and you don't like that, it's done the filtering job, right?

Generally, I don't tell people to change their profiles for the same reason I don't tell job applicants that their resume or cover letter is filled with misspellings- the fact is they can't spell and it's only fair that prospective employers know that.

I once went on a date (first and only) from eharmony and during dinner she told me she lived in a condo, nice enough.. but she had a pet Iguana and it was not caged..

So she had her temp in the condo up and had fans everywhere to keep herself cool when she slept and she also said she had it house trained, I asked her what that meant by house trained and she said it went to the bathroom on the kitchen floor where she could clean it up easy since her kitchen was vinyl...

funniest date ever

Pets are fine and in the profiles sure.. it would have been nice to have her put that in hers though.

I don't think I'd be attracted or not viewing them online.. meh...

It doesn't attract me. But i am fine with a pic of the pet/pets in the mix. And if they have a bunch of horses then i can run the other way as fast as possible lol.

Blue, the question was proposed and a thread was started. Do pet pictures attract you? All I am doing as with any other through it is offering an opinion and perspective I don't give a damn if somebody changes their profile picture or not. however let's get real if however let's get real if a woman thinks that it actually attracts a guy she's just simply fooling herself.

Now if a hot woman wants to tuvk a cute little puppy in between her cleavage Maybe

:laugh: Yeah, I was just taking the point. I guess to me, ultimately, be yourself in your profile because yourself is gonna have to date that person and their recoiling pre-dating is much better than recoiling later! :)
