passinthru Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I've always felt like we've had that spark/chemistry in our 1 yr relationship. But he was moving soon, so he got scared and broke up with me, giving several reasons...some made sense, some sounded silly. One reason was that something was missing. He said he did it on a whim and not long after he wanted to get back together. I asked him about the something that was missing and he said he thinks it was because we were just becoming like an old married couple, staying in and being kind of boring. Which I had to agree, we were getting very routine. Is it common for the spark to die down, even in successful long term relationships? Is it okay to be bored sometimes? He said it just tends to happen to couples sometimes when you hangout/talk everyday. This is my longest relationship. I never worried about us having enough in common, stuff to talk about, staying interested in each other until he said something was missing. I always felt what we had was a good thing but him saying that made me paranoid!
cadnoess Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 It's normal. The spark wears off after a little while. This will happen to every relationship. Inexperienced guys don't realise this and think it's all gone awry...

cadnoess Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 yeah sorry- was just relating to the situation in the question. affects girls too. at the end of the day, if all they are after is that spark, maybe it's right to end it when it wears off. not everyone's looking for something cosy. but if you're looking for someone long term, you have to get used to the idea.
