I go swimming in a pool everyday, I know I shouldn't get my hair wet everyday though, but how many days would be ok?

Well, you could wear a swim cap. That might help somewhat.

Going in everyday isn't great for your hair; it's great for your body, though.

Swim cap won't help if you're swimming laps. They keep your hair out of your face, but they don't keep it dry.

I'd just make sure to wash the chlorine from my hair each time I swim.

The best thing for me is to thoroughly soak my hair in water (non-chlorinated) before I get in the pool. And I use a swim cap. But I think the most important thing is that my hair is already saturated with less-damaging water so it doesn't absorb so much chlorine. And, as basil said, wash it out afterwards.

I think I could swim daily like that with pretty minimal damage.

I find that soaking my swimsuit (as I rinse my hair) also seems to really increase the lifespan of my suit. :)

Look into getting a salt water system for your pool.

I can't wear a swimcap and I'm not washing my hair everyday so how many days a week would be ok to go under?

Then I would have to say zero days a week. I think your hair will experience some negative side-effects of the chlorine.

But you must wash your hair sometimes during the week...why not just get it wet on the days you wash?

Ironically, I just started swimming as well and asked my hairdresser this very question.

His recommendation is the apply a handful of conditioner to your hair when dry, before you put on your cap and start swimming. The follicles will open up when you start swimming and the conditioner will help protect the hair.
