How do you know if someone is fake?

I was close friends with this person since high school, but after high school she wanted to keep in touch via email. For a year of emailing she never bothered to hang out. We just chatted thought email. Everytime I would tell her that I went out with a friend to a concert or outing-I would tell her that I just went with a friend. She demanded me to tell her the name of the friend I went with. I was like wth? Who says that? Given that she doesn t even know who she is anyway. I tell her that I work at a healthcare co. That should be enough info. She again demands to know the name of the place. First off, she is not my spouse-I'm not obligated to tell her anything that I don't want to. I keep it subtle. Anyone think this is rude and just trying to get info from me given that we don't even hang out anymore just chat though email!

I wouldn't say it's a fake friendship since you two were friends in the past. More like you two have grown apart and there's no effort to talk or spend time together face to face. Having just a text/email 'friendship' now with her isn't working, so I'd just ignore her and disappear. She seems invasive and rude. Demanding this and that, it's not her place nor her business what you do with whom.
