I've developed feelings for someone I've known for more than 15 yrs. Unfortunately for me, she's in a relationship which is ok.

In spite of knowing each other all that time, we only developed a friendship about 4 yrs ago when we began working together. I found a better job about 2 yrs ago.

I still see her occasionally because she works at one of my favorite eating establishments. We only talk as friends, never crossing any boundaries.

On my last visit, i over heard her speak to a coworker about her boyfriend so I know they're still together. But as I was getting ready to leave, she told me she knew I liked her because one of our mutual friends told her and that caught me off guard. I ended up leaving just minutes later. But why tell me?

Ego boost. We all like to know that people like us, especially in that magic way, so her knowing this probably makes her feel special. If she told you that she liked you, you'd have that warm glow inside too. However, as she's with someone, that's all it's ever going to be and you need to focus elsewhere. Don't start over thinking this as you'll start to become hooked on her every word and action. If she were single, I'd say turn it up a notch... but she's not, so don't. Keep this friend as a friend and laugh it off.

Doesn't matter OP. Don't mess with a girl who has a boyfriend.

I have no desire to pursue anything. She has a boyfriend...period! I know this!!!

My only reason for asking the question is I'm an analytical who has to have answers for everything, even if they are hypothetical.

Maybe she just wanted you to know she knew because you were coming into her place of work. She didn't want to waste your time.

Just remember, Women are from Venus, Men are from the pub (or something like that...). Basically you'll never work out why people do things, they just do. Laugh it off, even throw in a cheeky "what I'd do if you were single" sort of line (let her do some thinking too) and then walk away as if you're totally not even thinking about it - and haven't just posted on a relationship forum because of it.

How old are you all?

Sorry but her behavior sounds so high school.

Did she say this with a smile or a serious face? Was she flirty?

To me it's her opening a door.

What do you think her boyfriend would feel about her saying this to you..

First, I paraphrased what she actually said so that was not a direct quote but she DID speak in a very flirtatious manner, with a big smile. We both even laughed about it.

That's why I was kinda thinking I should probably stay away from her.
