egalew Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 When an older man (65) changes his FB photo to include a better, more appealing photo of himself, do you think it's because he's trying to attract attention / women?
Larryville Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 If a 65 year old dude is on FB, he has bigger issues...
Author egalew Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Serious? I know a bunch of people over 65 on FB. How old are you? 4
lilmissjava Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 If a 65 year old dude is on FB, he has bigger issues... I wonder what bigger issues our senior population has, to be part of a social media network. My mom is 65 and engages with many friends all over the world enjoying her retirement years. As for the question at hand, I think changing the profile picture of himself is to feel good about himself and no other reason. 3
girlhasnoname Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I don't think so I wouldn't read into too much. I think we all like to put our best faces coward on social media. Nothing more, nothing less.
Larryville Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 The question was: When an older man (65) changes his FB photo to include a better, more appealing photo of himself, do you think it's because he's trying to attract attention / women? I’m 52 I have a FB presence I use it to share grand kid pics with the family (my mom in Cali in perticular), old Air Force Friends use it to exchange old pics and info, I also use it to share music production files with old DJ buddies and promote program videos I produce from where I work.. Also I’m ONLY FB friends with family members and CLOSE friends. That was NOT what was implied here. Pay attention to the OP. I don’t give a crap about folks on FB. Regardless of what I think about social media overall. I get that many here are VERY young no sweat. Get a grip!
WellHelloThere Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 When an older man (65) changes his FB photo to include a better, more appealing photo of himself, do you think it's because he's trying to attract attention / women? There are too many assumptions that you can't know the answer. But most people put their better pictures on facebook, whether or not they are single and trying to attract someone. It should be called fakebook as people tend to paint a better picture of their looks and life than reality. 1
SugarLips72 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Most older people use it to keep in touch with family esp out of state. Is there some unwritten rule FB is only for those under 65? I've never heard of it. FB is a terrific way to communicate with people. Almost every single elderly person I know uses it for out of state family and grandkid pictures. If a 65 year old dude is on FB, he has bigger issues... 4
BikerAccnt Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 If a 65 year old dude is on FB, he has bigger issues... LOL, this kind of comment kills me. Don't forget, it was people that are 65 that started some of this computer revolutions stuff. Hell, I'm 55 and was toying with code in my late teens. There is no reason anyone of any age can't be on FB, or any other media for that matter. ... and the 65 year old may have changed his picture just because...I change up my profile and cover picture almost every week. 3
Fleur de cactus Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Posting a new, good looking picture is not a bad thing. It is facebook, we changed the pic anytime we want. I am 56 and I like to post my pic when I was 20. Not because I want to hide my age but to show how much I changed. I don't think you should be worried about this. Unless you have other suspicious reason. 1
basil67 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I'm pushing 50. When I change my profile photo, it's because I like the new photo more than the old one. 1
introverted1 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Actually, it's only old folks left on FB. The teens and twenty-somethings have moved on to the next big thing! OP, I think everyone wants to present him- or herself in the most flattering way. Your question seems to assume that anyone as old as 65 should just hang it up already. There are lots of people in their 50s, 60s and 70s who are still dating. Not saying this guy is, but it's not a crazy thing to think either. 2
kendahke Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 The question was: I’m 52 I have a FB presence I use it to share grand kid pics with the family (my mom in Cali in perticular), old Air Force Friends use it to exchange old pics and info, I also use it to share music production files with old DJ buddies and promote program videos I produce from where I work.. There's nothing in OP's post to imply anything except what she's trying to make it mean by how she phrased her question. He could be using it for the exact same reasons you're using it. Changing his picture doesn't mean anything... he has a better picture of himself and likes it enough to use it as a profile picture. 3
smackie9 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Young people these days are so clueless of what actually happens around them....maybe if they look up from their phone once in awhile..... My mom is 80 and she teaches computer classes to other seniors....hell she knows more stuff than I do. She's like buying a new laptop every 2 years. All her friends use FB, share photos, etc. Social media is used by pretty much everyone. So he figured out how to download a photo and post it on FB....good for him for being current. Even at his age, people appreciate a nice photo of themselves.....he's not dead. 4
ExpatInItaly Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 If a 65 year old dude is on FB, he has bigger issues... What a silly presumption. OP, ignore this comment. It's nothing to worry about. 1
