He doesn't have much respect for people in general, and doesn't respect my authority, what should I do?

Give him enough rope......:laugh: Reactive people are the easiest ones to take care of. It's the charismatic ones who appear to idolise you that you need to watch out for. ;)

Remind them of the remit of their Job Description, state clearly "That is the job; if you want it get on with it, If you don't there is the door". If they overreach outside their area of legitimate interest [criticising you or questioning your decisions] remind them of their obligation and view if the disciplinary procedure should be invoked, verbal warning to start.

 

Get him to repeat the mantra "Courtesy costs Nothing"
