Greetings!

I am in a LDR with a great guy. We have been a couple for just over a year. In August of 2015 he went on a year-long work detail 2,300 miles away. He visits about every 4-6 weeks and we always have a great time.

He left this morning. It is so hard to say goodbye. (He always says "This isn't goodbye...it is I will see you soon").

How do you work through the initial sadness after you part ways until next time? I try to read, write or do anything to get my mind busy but I can't concentrate.

For me, it takes a few days for the initial sadness to fade but I am always missing him.

Thanks for any advice. Truly.

I had some good cries then started counting down to the next meet. I also kept myself busy until I could see him again.

Do you write?

My LDR was more than 25 years ago, well before all the communications technology we have now. We each wrote daily snail mail letters. On Wednesday nights after 11 pm my time when the rates went down we had a 1 hour phone call. That was it. We did get to see each other about every 3 months for the 2 years we were apart so we were luckier then many.

Thank you for replying. I do write to him and enjoy sending cards and neat stuff in the mail.

I've also been walking dogs at the animal shelter. I very much enjoy that. And that is something I will always do even after he returns.
