Chapman99 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I've been working in the same large open plan office as Emma for about a year. I've always been aware who she is - but our paths have never crossed. I've not previously talked to her. She's mid-30s, I'm a tad older. Two weeks ago a new girl, Katy joins her team. My boss asks me to do Katy's 'induction' (getting her a laptop, showing her around the building, basically being her induction buddie). On Katy's first day she has lunch with Emma (obviously they knew each other previously). After a few days of being an induction buddie to Katy I return to my day. Job done. Then last week, Emma comes up to me in the kitchen and initiates conversation with me (weird, I thought - we've shared an office for over a year?!). Now Emma keeps smiling at me and wants to chat. What's the score?
bu2002 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Not enough information to tell her interest You are obviously interested in her otherwise you wouldn't be posting about it. If you would like to get to know her more, then do that exactly. Next time you cross paths in the kitchen, strike up a conversation with her.

What's the score? I think it's weird you've both essentially ignored a colleague for a whole year!! Doesn't sound like a friendly office, great though that Emma's showing some initiative in turning things around.
