I beleieve there is no secrets .

chemistry , compatibility are the base of the start ; empathy and respect are the conditions to last .

When one of the partners is selfish , marriage flies from the window .

There are other forms of long lasting marriage where one of the partners or both care so much about the kids ; they sacrifice for them and stay in a rotted marriage .

In My opinion it is not true that a divorce is better in this case ; because the existence of both parents in kids life is so important .

of course the rotted lasting marriage is for the benefits of the kidsonly if they are not affected by toxic relation between the partners.

in my case i am living in such a toxic marriage ; if I leave i will be selfish towards my kids.

it is painful , I spend nights awake , but I forget my pain when I see my kids happy .

They seemed to have one of the few genuine marriages in the celebrity world. It is good model for any couple to follo it has to be rough losing your husband and your mother so close together.

I ran across this video tonite from Iman, and wow, I'm amazed...wise words

Iman reveals the secret to her lasting marriage to the late David Bowie | AOL Features

Hi Gloria:

I agree with what Iman said.

Also, IMO, be open to doing whatever it takes to communicate issues openly to your spouse.

If it takes counseling to get a spouse to open up and be honest about issues in the marriage then both spouses need to be willing to seek counseling.

If one partner can not communicate in a healthy way and refuses counseling at the other spouses request, then the marriage is going to be vulnerable to either a divorce or an affair.

Sometimes I see a BS whose spouse has had an affair and that BS insists they were the perfect spouse.

IMO, even in the best of marriages both spouses have faults no one is perfect, so in a situation where one spouse is insisting they have no faults, well likely that marriage is in trouble or going to soon be in trouble.

Just my 50 cents.

I read an article at the readers digest website called secrets a marriage counselor won't tell you.

One of the secrets was: "When I hear a spouse claim that they are the good one, I know that spouse is most likely the problem. "

All humans, by nature, have both good and bad qualities. There is no such thing as a perfectly good human, accept those that are in denial about their own faults.

And believe it or not, it "is" that simple...

My fav podcaster says, "Choose wisely, treat kindly"

Yes, it is that simple.
