just because a woman gets several emails a day does not mean the quality of the emails are great and some are downright offensive.

 

I agree but the thing is this, at a gathering some time ago I’ve had the opportunity to take a peek into the POF accounts of a few women at this party (I was dating their friend at the time) after a discussion about OLD they wanted my take on their profiles.

 

They also allowed me to read a few of their exchanges and the content I read from the guys was absolutely stunning. The juvenile nature of the conversations from men ranging in the 40 plus range was incredible.

If you were reading these exchanges you would swear they were sent by drunk teenagers, the grammar, the rudeness and outright disrespect with some racist and homophobic crap thrown in.

 

It was then that I totally changed my perception of OLD and I fundamentally knew that this was not just an issue with the women online, it was the utter stupidity of the guys who made a lot of these women seriously skeptical and very guarded.

When you have that many just seriously stupid dudes basically carpet bombing OLD sites and throwing out emails to any warm body to see if anything stuck greatly affected ALL men and their OLD dating experiences.

 

NOW, having said that, while these women were critical of these dudes THEY CONTINUED TO ENGAGE THESE CREEPS, FOR FUN.

 

If these guys would simply get ignored and called out for their behavior MAYBE the stupidity might stop, but obviously SOME women respond and encourage the stupidity.

 

My point we are all affected by what goes on in society. The rudeness, the offensive emails, the disrespect the fakeness, which is why I (and others) have said if a dude greets you and right away starts talking about how “hot” you look and all that crap it is BS! No normal person with truly good intentions would do that.

This is a great post. I went on a date recently with a great guy, who had a nice, normal opening. It did not progress, but I have no ill towards him because he was respectful and "normal". If he ever pinged me in the future, I would definitely be open to hanging with him again.

 

One of the things he told me was that if men approached women in person with some of the things they said and did online, they would be arrested. That includes the vulgar language, obscene photos, poor social skills, etc. Sometimes all starts off good and then quickly goes downhill. And he is absolutely right.

 

Just two I received today are enough to make me give this up. And I just started back in! Why would someone proceed to start out with vulgarity, when a simple hello would work better?

 

On some occasions I have called them out on this, but often they defiantly say back to me that their methods work. Many times I do just ignore and block. I wonder if anything makes them ponder it.

Is their an option to report them? That's probably the only way you might change their behaviour.

Yes there is an option. I should do that and don't do it enough. One man I have encountered just makes up new profiles, so unfortunately some don't get the message. But it's worth a shot.
