confuseddddgirl Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 so my ex and i broke up for a couple weeks now and a lot of my belongings are still at his place. i asked him if i should come pick it up at the time we broke up because the sooner the better right? but he started saying rude things and doesnt want me coming to his place. so now i pretty much have to wait for him to drop it off which i dont when that will ever be and i dont want to ask for him either since i went nc since the break up. i just dont know why he is taking forever to give me back my things, he broke up with me so i would assume he would want to get it done and over with instead of prolonging the situation.
CarrieT Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 In the grand scheme of things, kiss your things goodbye. Learn the mantra, "It is just stuff." Nothing is worth the agony and heartache of dealing with an ex in trying to get back "stuff." Seriously. It can all be obtained again. For those of us that have gone through horrible break-ups a number of times, we learn that we will always get more "stuff" and everything is replaceable. 1
Zahara Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 You need to let your things go. Often, "stuff" is used as an opportunity to maintain contact -- bad or good as long as it's contact. It's just stuff -- nothing is more valuable than your emotional and mental sanity. You've spent 5 years in this on and off arrangement-- it's time you let it all go and focus on moving on. Stop investing any more time in wondering what he's thinking, what he's doing, where he's going, if he's coming back -- this time is now yours to deal with healing and detaching from this toxic situation. Enough is enough.
