In January of this year, a financial matter ruined my relationship with my girlfriend of three years. Basically, after thinking for a few days, I decided not to help her financially because I wasn't comfortable with it for many reasons. Her ex’s and close friends have helped her financially before so perhaps she thinks it’s not a big deal and I would do it no questions asked. She reacted with a childish rant and that's the last time I spoke with her. The next day, I attempted to show my support by offering my assistance in other ways to help her resolve the matter. She replied a few days later with a curt and pissy response which basically literally translated to “F-off” lol. I decided to let it go and figure she would come to her senses. She never did. So we’ve had no contact since and I’ve decided to move on with my life.

Out of the blue, she recently texted my best friend (he’s a guy too) of 21 years who she knows I live with saying she misses him with no mention of me. They have no relationship and only know each other through me. I just don’t understand this kind of behavior. I’m not angry just sad and disappointed. I am curious though…

Why would she contact my best friend and not me and how should I proceed?

Maybe she likes him? You two aren't dating, you have broken up, and you don't own your friend, so it's really none of your business. How do you proceed? You stay out of it.

Ask your friend to block her as I'm sure he doesn't want to get in the middle of this, then you block her and ignore her. She sounds like a lazy gold digger. Don't give her another dime.

She's just being vindictive and trying to make you mad. I do so hope your friend has the good sense to tell her not to call and put him in the middle. If not, maybe you should tell him that's what a good friend should do. Of course you don't loan money like that. There's too many gold-diggers, men and women, out there who only want something from you.

She's trying to get a reaction from you through him.

Don't make the mistake of contacting her and ask your friend to block her.

She sounds like a childish brat.

She'll probably even have sex with your friend to try to hurt you. Consider yourself lucky you didn't waste more than 3 years on her.

If she comes around your friend while you're there, maybe say something like you have no problem with your friend having a go at your sloppy seconds.
